Budget Airlines Horror Stories

Every continent has no-frills budget airlines nowadays and we’ve all taken them at one point or another…
What’s your WORST travel experience on a budget airline?? Could be Europe, Asia, U.S. ..you name it!

I've actually been really lucky with most budget airlines so far thankfully! My worst experience was during a trip to London many years ago.

We missed our connecting flight and had to stay the night in Toronto and wait for the next flight out the next night. The nice part was we got upgraded to business class for our troubles. HOWEVER... and I mean no offense by this, it just is what it is, the person sitting in front of me was morbidly obese, which caused their seat to recline beyond where it was meant to.

This made the seat touch my legs.

BUT... it gets worse. They had a condition that would cause them to "convulse" for a few seconds at a time every minute or so.

So every time I thought I was about to fall asleep, the seat would shake and hit my legs.

Needless to say I did not arrive rested...

I have had pretty good luck with budget airlines. I always hear complaints but so far so good. My husband and I did fly Breeze coming back to Vegas from Syracuse, NY after the holidays and the plane was the most cramped I have ever been on. The girls in front of us all reclined their seats so we flew over four hours with the backs of their seats on our knees and couldn’t use our tables, but we lived.

That sounds absolutely nightmarish lol

Thinking about it I’ve been rather lucky with budget airlines so far.

Hello Sam,

My Austrian Airlines flight to Vienna was delayed five hours and then sat on the tarmac for another one.

It was not all bad as they paid my EU flight delay compensation! 🤣

Okay guys. I was flying on a budget airline out of Inverness, Scotland.... and I literally HAD to get to London that day.
The flight was cancelled as we all (a group of 16 of us) got to the airport.
I went to the gate agents at the front desk and bribed them with bottles of Whiskey to put me on the next flight, AND THEY DID. the other 15 of my group had to overnight in Inverness, but not meeeee.
(I know this sounds savage, but it was a life or death situation.)

ANYWAY - I loved the fact that it was like 22 year old kids at the desk and 4 bottles of nice whiskey was enough for them to push some buttons.

so my experience was interesting :ROFLMAO:

Vietjet. I am 6 feet tall and this had to be one of the most worst experience for me. Knee room? Non existent as I had to straddle my knees into the aisle or play knee tag with the person beside me. Not sure what I would have done in the middle seat. I guess knee cuddling is normal.
