Travel Alert IssuedJul 8

Mexico's rainy season is producing intense downpours with flooding and landslide warnings across a large part of the country - roughly two dozen states, including Veracruz, Oaxaca, Chiapas, Tabasco, and much of the southern Pacific coast. Authorities are reporting flooded roads, swollen rivers, landslides in hilly areas, and localized transport suspensions, and heavy rain can hit hard and fast in the afternoons and evenings. Avoid driving through flooded roads or low-lying underpasses, steer clear of riverbanks and steep slopes during downpours, allow extra time for road and transport delays, and check local weather (Conagua/Protección Civil) and flight status before traveling around affected regions.
