Reconsider travel due to armed conflict, landmines, and crime. Since hostilities between the U.S. and Iran began February 28, there is an ongoing threat of drone and missile attacks and serious disruptions to commercial aviation. Non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members remain ordered to leave (since March 2), and the U.S. government has limited ability to provide emergency services.
- Keep commercial departure options in mind; the U.S. government's ability to assist is limited.
- Do not travel to the desert area or beaches north of the Mutla'a Ridge or near the Iraqi border due to unmarked landmines and unexploded ordnance.
- FAA has issued a NOTAM/SFAR for the Persian Gulf region - check current FAA warnings before flying.
- Exercise increased caution in the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh area near the airport due to crime.
- Have an evacuation plan that does not rely on U.S. government help.
