Two issues affect travel in Mexico. 1. ROAD DISRUPTION: transport-worker demonstrations are congesting highways into Mexico City, and indigenous road blockades in Quintana Roo's Maya Zone are affecting routes toward the Riviera Maya over power-outage protests. Allow extra time for road transfers, verify routes before driving, and keep generous airport buffers. 2. WEATHER: intense seasonal thunderstorms with very heavy rain (75-150mm), lightning, high winds, and hail are tracking across Nayarit and Jalisco, including Tepic and the Puerto Vallarta area, bringing localized flooding and reduced road visibility. Avoid flooded areas and streams.
