Some say a beach is a beach; it doesn’t matter where you are.
I say those people haven’t been to Galveston and Destin — two completely different, yet wildly popular, Gulf Coast getaways that are nothing alike.
The same can be said all across the world: not every Greek island is a mirror image of Santorini, and not every Southern California beach haven is a Polaroid stereotype of skateboarders and bleach-blond surfers.

As such, we're taking you globetrotting today, revealing some of the world's top off-path beaches well worth the adventure this summer, from the “Maldives” of the Mediterranean to a pristine paradise in Asia where you'd least expect, and let's just say we're finally making use of this emoji: 🗿.
PLUS: We've created an interactive quiz for you at the end of this article to find your perfect match!
1) Ksamil: The “Maldives” Of Albania 🇦🇱
Can we stop pretending like the Med begins and ends as one big loop around Greece?
Albania has somewhat quietly drawn European vacationers (which means some unsightly swimwear) in recent years.

Be sure to check the latest Travel Alerts & Entry Requirements before your trip.
Obviously, Albania has become one of Europe's hottest countries for its affordability, history, and world-class beach towns like Ksamil.
With crystal-clear water, it's earned the “Maldives” tag — something it undeniably does live up to without having to travel to what seems like Middle-earth.
The difference is what you’ll find once you’re there: buzzing beach clubs, seafood feasts, and tiny islands that don’t require a seaplane to reach.
Plus, it also feels very safe as travelers are scoring it with 85/100 right now on our Safety Index:
2) Bonafacio: France's Unsung Paradise 🇫🇷

You don't have to navigate the sketchy streets of Marseille, the uppity beach clubs of St. Tropez, or the shoulder-to-shoulder promenade crowds of Nice to enjoy an epic beach vacay in France.
You hear of Spain and Italy's islands, but France's island of Corsica should have a seat at the table too.
The town of Bonifacio sits on Corsica’s southern tip, where its picturesque Old Town is just as striking as the shimmering sea.
Perched atop dramatic limestone cliffs, this overlooked hideaway feels worlds away from mainland France’s usual summer hotspots, swapping flashy resorts for boutique stays, medieval streets, boat trips, and nearby beaches with the kind of clear blue water worth flying “across the pond” for.

Bonafacio makes a great base as the town itself is a delight to wander, as are its gorgeous neighbors, Rondinara, Pianterella, and Sperone.
Travelers are scoring France's safety levels with an impressive 84/100:
3) Sanya: Asia's Secret Coastal Wonder 🇨🇳
Do we dare ask if China is making a comeback?
Time will tell for arguably Asia's most historic and cultured nation. But one thing you don't often think of when planning a trip to China is its beautiful coastline.
Believe it or not, I can attest to that, having visited the island of Xiamen, but Sanya may be even more pristine.

Sanya sits on Hainan’s southern tip, where palm-lined beaches, clear tropical water, and forested mountains make it feel far removed from the bustling metropolises you likely envision first.
This tropical resort city offers incredible beaches and scenery, especially at the 4 following locales:
- Yalong Bay
- Dadonghai
- Sanya Bay
- Haitang Bay
However, if there's one must-see-to-believe spot, it's Hyatt Regency Sanya Tianli Bay, where it's not only one of the best hotels but boasts bubblegum pink shores.
Obviously, there are dozens of bucket-list destinations within China's vast borders, from the iced-out city of Harbin that would make Paul Wall blush to old-world bazaars of Kashgar, but don't sleep on China's palm-fringed islands for a bragworthy beach trip more than ready for the ‘gram.

Despite a notoriously stringent government, travelers are largely reporting feeling safe with an incredible 91/100 score:
4) Siargao: The Philippines' Next Big Thing 🇵🇭
If you want to know the best secret spots across the world, ask an Australian.
That said, Aussies have been flocking to one of the Philippines' up-and-coming islands.
Americans, now it's your turn.
Instead of following the crowds to Boracay or Palawan, little-known Siargao feels more authentic.
Well, as authentic as an Aussie-laden hotspot could be with its iconic surf break that put Siargao on the map in the first place.

But you don't have to hang loose to enjoy this island's postcard white-sand shores. The Philippines’ official tourism site highlights Sugba Lagoon and Magpupungko Rock Pools as natural wonders beyond the island’s surf scene.
And there's no denying its enticement, even more so as one of Asia's most affordable countries.
Travelers are scoring the Philippines with 75/100 for safety:
5) Easter Island: Chile's Far-Flung Icon 🗿
Talk about timely. It may be far-flung, but is there any place more fitting to visit right now, as more “UAP” files are released, than Easter Island?
You know what we're talking about — we've all seen those iconic, stoic stone sentinels known as moai, a mystery that to this day remains one of archaeology's great debates in how they were moved.

In fact, many casual admirers long assumed they were just heads, but excavations revealed full-bodied figures buried beneath the surface, some with intricate petroglyphs carved into their backs.
As fascinating as they are to see, what gets lost when visiting Easter Island is the “Island” part. It's an incredible beach destination, even without aliens' gift to mankind.
Yeah, I said it…
But our Yahoo! Travel source pokes a hole in that theory, making it a lot less fun to wear a tinfoil hat. 👽
So, just bring your swimwear and sunblock instead and enjoy one of Latin America's most unique beach destinations with no shortage of photo ops.
