It’s official – winter has covered most of North America with its cold, heavy blanket, and travelers are looking for just about any excuse to jet off to a warm-weather destination.

That’s why so many coastal hotspots are seeing double-digit growth this season in terms of visitor numbers, and the trend is only bound to get stronger come February.

Chase Travel recently analyzed its proprietary data to find out exactly which places were leading the way as America’s favorite beach destinations this winter, information gathered from bookings between 17 November 2023 and 7 January 2024.

Below, you’ll find the top 4, and, spoiler alert, two of them are located right here in the U.S.

4. West Palm Beach, Florida

Florida’s southeastern gem has emerged as one of the top two domestic beach destinations this year, drawing in flocks of visitors through its soft-sanded beaches and lively city scene.

Those who want to explore our country’s prettiest shores while also getting to immerse in cultural events will fall in love with West Palm Beach.

Between upscale shopping on Worth Avenue, exploring the Norton Museum of Art, experiencing the buzzing nightlife, and indulging in the remarkable culinary scene, your opportunities for some good ol’ city fun are virtually endless here.

What’s more, seeing as the city has made some major strides in terms of infrastructure – I’m talking about the upgraded airport and expanded road network here – exploring its many wonders as well as nearby regions has never been easier.

3. Roatan, Honduras

For those looking for a true overseas escape, there’s no better place than a certain island just 40 miles (65 kilometers) off the northern coast of Honduras.

Hugged by the Caribbean, Roatan boasts the kind of unspoiled beauty, paradisic weather, and vibrant coral reefs that most of us have only read about in geography books.

The largest of the Bay Islands is finally surging in popularity after a lifetime under the shadows of its flashier neighbors, and that’s thanks to the kind of authentic and laid-back experience that can’t be found in bigger hotspots.

What’s more, considering the reasonable prices you’ll find all across Honduras (yes, even on its islands), Roatan is one of this list’s best-value destinations, catering to everyone from luxury seekers to backpackers on a shoestring budget.

2. Miami Beach, Florida

This year, Americans are seemingly rediscovering the undeniable allure of one of its most iconic sunny destinations – Miami Beach.

Renowned for its lively party atmosphere and iconic Art Deco architecture, the city boasts everything a traveler could look for this time of year, from world-class beaches to more cultural attractions than you can count.

South Beach Miami

It’s worth noting, though, that the charm of the Floridian hotspot extends well beyond the golden sands of South Beach – here, travelers will also be able to explore prestigious art fairs, trendy art galleries, and some of the best restaurants and bars in all of North America.

1. Noord, Aruba

Having seen a remarkable 105% growth in visitor numbers his winter, this southern Caribbean piece of paradise has (rightfully) become the place to be right now.

Travelers can’t seem to get enough of the island’s consistently sunny weather, crystal-clear waters, and pristine beaches that offer the type of views you’ve only seen in paintings or postcards.

However, what really sets Noord apart from other Caribbean hotspots as well as other towns in Aruba is the fact that even those who don’t want to spend their entire day on the beach will find something to take joy in.

Market stalls in downtown Noord, a town in Aruba known for its high concentration of hotels, restaurants, beaches, malls, and other places of attraction.

From windsurfing and kiteboarding to exploring Arikok National Park's rugged terrain, thrill seekers will have no problem finding the best way to spend their time in Noord.

City trippers, on the other hand, are bound to fall in love with the friendly atmosphere, walkable streets, as well as the island’s unique blend of Dutch and Caribbean influences, best reflected in its stunning architecture, delectable cuisine, and colorful festivals.

In short, no traveler will come out of Noord unaffected by the charm and beauty of the overall experience.
