Summer is quickly approaching, and searching for different destinations to spend vacations is on everyone's mind.
Destinations worldwide are getting increased searches on Google, giving insight into which destinations will be this year's hotspots.
Not every destination is far away; some are within the United States, showing that travel is returning to pre-pandemic levels on both national and global scales.
If you're looking for where to travel this summer, check out the list below. Google has compiled data from searches in December through March and figured out the five destinations people want to go.
Places like London, Orlando, and Cancún are topping the list this summer, which may not surprise more experienced travelers, but it shows that interest in travel is returning.
Finally, the effects of the pandemic are starting to lessen.
Check out five of the most popular summer destinations according to Google Flights:
London, England is the most searched destination for summer travel.
The capital of England is becoming the most searched summer vacation spot due to its increasing amenities like new West End Shows and an endless foodie selection.
The city's neighborhoods, like Soho, draw diverse travelers ranging from families to solo travelers due to their numerous high-end shops and cafes.
If you've been on TikTok anytime recently, you'll see some new restaurant or cocktail bar pop up on your feed, and that's because the city is buzzing with newness it hasn't seen since the pandemic.
Most Americans know of Cancún either by traveling there at one point or by word of mouth.
Probably the most famous city in the Yucatán Peninsula, Cancún has something for everyone.
Its beaches are Caribbean-level, with some of the region's finest resorts and all-inclusive properties.
Places like the JW Marriott Cancún Resort & Spa showcase a new side to the destination with its more luxury amenities.
All of this and more makes this place unique; it has something for everyone against a beautiful backdrop.
The first European city on this list is Paris, France.
Known as the city of lovers, Paris is another spot that doesn't need any introductions.
On top of being one of the most romantic cities in the world, it also has some of the best restaurants.
It has 127 Michelin-starred restaurants with at least one star.
This alone in one city is impressive and showcases why it ranks high on the search list.
This is the biggest city in Central Florida and has the most visitors in the entire state. Orlando has massive theme parks like Walt Disney World and Universal Studios.
The theme parks alone draw in millions of crowds, and this summer is no different. Orlando is also developing a local perspective for travelers with neighborhoods like Mills 50 and Downtown Orlando.
These small but mighty neighborhoods create (or reinforce) a different culture from the theme parks. Hotels like the Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando Autograph Collection reopened after an 18-million dollar renovation with a new rooftop pool with city views.
This is just a taste of what The City Beautiful offers, and searches this summer reflect that. Take advantage of what the real Orlando can deliver outside the theme parks.
Rome is known for a few things like gelato, fantastic architecture, and some of the best food on this side of Europe. Searches have been increasing because this is such an excellent place to visit.
Rome also has places like Vatican City inside of it. The smallest independent city-state in the world is home to the Pope and the headquarters of the Roman Catholic Church.
Traveling this summer is going to be a blast for a lot of people. According to Google Flights, these spots will be the most popular. But wherever you end up is going to be a good time.
