It's never too early to plan your next trip. Alaska Airlines is standing behind that statement by filling out their calendar way earlier than expected.

By doing so, it also helps you know what exciting new places you can jet off to on one of America's most reliable carriers.

Summer may be in full force now where travelers are making the most of their time off, but let's not forget why winter is an awesome time to travel too.

For instance, many of us will be stuck at home in frigid temps daydreaming of Mexican beaches. Conversely, you can embrace the snow and book an epic ski trip as well.

Alaska is helping travelers do both with 18 new flights launching in total with 10 of them being exciting international destinations.

Book Your Next Tropical Escape Early! Costa Rica Is Calling Your Name

Is Costa Rica ever a bad idea? The breathtaking Central American nation has long been a preferred escape for Americans looking for a taste of the Pura Vida lifestyle.

One region that's become trendier as of late is Guanacaste. This is the side of Costa Rica brimming with luxury, giving destinations like Punta Cana a run for their money in a game of who can entice American vacationers more.

Lined with lavish resorts and stunning coastlines, it's no wonder Alaska sees this as one of their next big offerings for winter sun.

Travelers on the West Coast will have a couple of new options to Liberia (LIR).

Both Seattle (SEA) and San Francisco (SFO) will see the exact same flight options launching Dec 21, 2024.

Both cities will have one flight per week, with the only difference being the end date for the route:

San Francisco ends May 11, 2025

7 New Flights To Mexico: The Ultimate Winter Sun Escape

Is there any more convenient place to fly for a premiere international sunny vacation?

Doesn't even matter the season, Mexico is always the answer.

To no surprise, Cancun, Los Cabos, and Puerto Vallarta find themselves duking it out in the top 3 most visited destinations in Mexico and Alaska has given in to the fight.

New flights will launch to all 3, plus the bustling cultural city of Guadalajara for more traditional experiences.

Cancun will always be top dog, but there's nothing wrong with switching it up for a vacation splurge in Cabo, more authentic experiences in Puerto Vallarta, or to skip the beach entirely for Guadalajara.

These are Alaska's 7 new flights to Mexico this winter:

  • Fresno (FAT) – Guadalajara (GDL) launching December 3, 2024 with daily service
  • Sacramento (SMF) – Los Cabos (SJD) launching January 5, 2025 with 5 flights weekly
  • New York (JFK) – Puerto Vallarta (PVR) launching January 8, 2025 with 4 flights weekly (the only nonstop service in the U.S.)
  • Sacramento (SMF) – Puerto Vallarta (PVR) launching January 11, 2025 with 1 flight weekly
  • Kansas City (MCI) – Cancun (CUN) launching January 18, 2025 with 1 flight weekly

All Mexico routes are seasonal, ending between April and June 2025. The exception is the Fresno—Guadalajara route, which ends February 12, so there will be no surprise Valentine's Day trips!

These routes are in addition to Alaska's other recent announcement serving La Paz for the first time ever.

Don't Forget Our Northern Neighbor: New Route To Canada

Sometimes we are so focused on vacationing in Mexico we forget all about the wonders of our northern neighbor, Canada.

Sweeping views of Kelowna, Canada

While not exactly known for sun and sand, the underrated lakeside city of Kelowna offers a different type of winter escape.

Home to some of British Columbia's top ski slopes, the Okanagan Valley is a treasure trove for adventurers looking to hit the slopes with top resorts like Big White Ski Resort under an hour from the airport.

Alaska will launch this new flight to Kelowna (YLW) from Los Angeles (LAX) beginning December 19, 2024 with daily service just in time for a quintessential ‘White Christmas'.
