It can't be easy to launch an airline. This gargantuan undertaking takes a lot of courage to face uncertain risks going head-to-head against the big dogs of the industry in a modern-day David vs. Goliath match.
But, as Roman philosopher Seneca once said, “Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity”.
One of America's newest airlines, Avelo, has played its cards right, making quite an impression during its first few years in operation.
We have covered at least 2 separate reports showing that Avelo is the most statistically reliable carrier in the U.S.
It's not too shabby, considering all the household names seem to have their own issues keeping travelers happy. Not Avelo, however.
I haven't flown this airline yet, but it's obvious the customer-centric business model is much more appealing than industry standards, and one could argue their accomplishments forced Spirit's and Frontier's hands in revamping their notoriously stingy policies.
Being such a success among their newfound loyal following, Avelo is ready to go international with 2 exciting new routes to a pair of Americans' favorite vacation destinations.
Look Out Southwest! Avelo Is Rising Fast!
Avelo launched in April 2021 and has been on the fast track ever since. Three years later, the airline is only looking forward, as it just announced its ‘largest expansion in company history'.
With 18 new nonstop routes in total, the company's rapid growth can't help but be noticed, especially with such a strong performance track record.
Where my people are from in the South, we might say “Avelo seems too big for their britches”, but so far they have lived up to the hype and then some with customer-friendly policies, affordable fares, and consistent on-time flights.
Southwest is no longer in a league of its own, being the ‘happy airline', so to speak. Just ask Avelo's 5 million passengers.
Newer airlines such as Avelo and Breeze seemed to, at the very least, disrupt the airline industry.
First, Allegiant increased the size of allowable personal items.
Later, Frontier and Spirit overhauled their policies in the same week, and now Southwest is giving the people what they want—assigned seating.
Avelo's First-Ever International Destination
Pack your bags for the Caribbean as the iconic resort town of Montego Bay just became even easier to reach as the airline's 51st destination.
Just in time to make use of your Thanksgiving vacation days, Avelo's first international flight is set for Saturday, November 16.
Departing from Hartford, CT, East Coasters can vacation in paradise, swapping fall foliage for Jamaica's pristine beaches and lavish resorts.
Setting tourism records left and right, Jamaica has never been more popular and undoubtedly led by the allure of Montego Bay, Jamaica's crown jewel.
That includes a controversial travel advisory issued by the U.S. State Department earlier this year, which, needless to say, didn't seem to hold many vacationers back.
To make Montego Bay even more appealing with Avelo, initial one-way fares can be found on their official website as low as $52.
Avelo's Safe Bet: First Flight To Mexico
Do Cancun's luxe resorts and aqua blue seas ever get old? Negative. Especially since many of their famous beaches were crowned the best in the world!
As Americans' #1 choice for beach vacations abroad, Avelo couldn't have placed a safer bet venturing into international waters than adding Cancun to their network.
Hartford is the big winner for international flights. As it currently stands, BDL is the only airport with international service for Avelo travelers.
There are plenty of budget airlines offering flights to Cancun, but this one will be the only option from Connecticut, as well as potentially the cheapest.
Like Montego Bay, promotional fares are as low as $52. The first flight will depart on Wednesday, November 20.
