A passenger ripped off a plane's emergency door just as the aircraft was preparing for take off. The incident sparked fear and panic among the passengers.
The man, who was allegedly very drunk, got up from his seat and rushed to the wing door, and ripped it from the hinges.
The emergency slide on the airline traveling from Chiang Mai to Bangkok on airline Thai Smile inflated and dropped out onto the runway.
The incident occurred on onboard an Airbus A320 with 86 passengers ready to taxi across the tarmac.
Shocked passengers screamed in shock while airport security staff pinned the man to ground.
Local media called him a ”crazed foreigner”.
The passenger was pictured wearing jeans, a blue t-shirt and white shoes after having his hands and feet cuffed inside the airport.
Staff from the Thai Smile airline said that more than 600,000 baht (£15,400) in damage had been caused by the incident.
A spokesman for Thai Airway's low cost short haul subsidiary Thai Smile apologised for the incident.
"A foreign male passenger ran to open the emergency exit door next to the left wing of the plane. The incident caused the emergency door to be opened entirely and an emergency slide unfolded. The captain immediately suspended the flight and notified ground officials and security personnel to control the incident."

It is still not clear what caused the man to rip the door from its hinges.
