Oh bella Italia! One of the most popular destinations in Europe thanks to its rich history, beautiful beaches, and delicious food.
And now Italy will be easier than ever to access for American travelers thanks to Delta Airlines.
Delta has launched new routes to these 4 epic Italian destinations as part of a continued focus on connectivity to the country for 2025.
Brand New Route To Catania
Delta is now the largest U.S. carrier to fly to Italy, and there will be 10% more flights in 2025 than there were in the summer of 2024.
And from May 2025, Delta will be the only U.S. airline to offer direct flights to Catania, in Sicily.
This flight route will operate daily and depart from New York JFK.
It is an exciting new route that will open Sicily more directly to American travelers.
So how much can you expect to pay to travel to this Italian island paradise?
These new flight routes are already on sale, and so I looked to get an example price.
Traveling from June 1 to June 7 for one passenger in the main economy class cabin will cost $2,965.
The outbound flight departs at 5.25pm with a flight time of 9 hours 10 minutes, landing at 8.35am.
The return flight departs at 10.35am with a flight time of 10 hours 10 minutes, landing at 2.45pm.
Improved Connectivity To Italian Hotspots
In 2024, Delta launched a nonstop route to Naples from New York JFK. This proved so popular that for 2025 another nonstop route to Naples will join the network.
Passengers from Atlanta will be able to fly nonstop to Naples from May 2025. This will be a 4 times weekly service.
Rome is already well connected to the U.S. thanks to Delta’s existing routes which depart from Atlanta, Detroit, Boston and New York-JFK. From May 2025 a 5th nonstop route will launch from Minneapolis-St. Paul.
This flight will operate 4 times weekly, and this will make Rome the most sought-after European destination in Delta’s network.
Finally, if you’d like to explore the shopping streets of Milan then Delta is launching a 4 times per week nonstop flight from Boston to Milan in 2024.
Delta already operated 2 weekly flights to Milan from New York JFK and Atlanta in 2024.
So this is another example of the increased demand for Italian adventures from the American market!
Why Choose An Italian Summer
Italy is an iconic destination that everyone should visit at least once in their lifetime.
And because the country is so diverse, there’s a different side of Italy for everyone.
In Southern Italy you will find that the people are warm and welcoming.
The culture here was heavily influenced by Greece and North Africa, the atmosphere is more casual, and of course the weather is warmer!
Sicily and Naples are the best airports to choose if you want to experience Southern Italy.
Northern Italy is more similar to other European countries such as France as it was influenced by central European culture.
The weather can be cooler here (though it is still lovely and sunny in the summer) and the focus is more on city break.
