The Finnish Interior Ministry has reported that all coronavirus entry requirements will be lifted on June 30th for international travelers. Beginning June 30th, travelers visiting Finland will no longer be required to show proof of a negative test, vaccination status, or be subject to testing upon arrival. The decision comes after a recent extension of Covid restrictions, with the 30th chosen as the end date. Finland was the last piece of the pie as neighbors Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have already removed entry requirements.

Until June 30th, only those entering Finland from non-Schengen EU countries or countries on the EU's green list, Finnish citizens or foreign nationals, and those with essential reasons will be allowed to enter the country without restrictions. However, beginning June 30th, travelers from all countries will be allowed to enter Finland without restriction.

Before the reported end date of June 30th, any travelers not falling within the group mentioned previously are required to show either a vaccination certificate, a negative covid test taken within 72 hours of entry, or a certificate of recovery from Covid-19. The rules apply to all those born in 2006 or earlier and remain in effect until the end of the month.

According to the guidelines set forth by the Finnish government's website, the general recommendation of using masks has been lifted. The wearing of masks is now up to each individual's discretion, and the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare still recommends masks in indoor spaces and public transport. Restaurants must continue the practice of safe distancing and improved hygiene practices until June 30th. However, beginning June 30th, no restrictions will be placed on events, hotels, restaurants, or any other establishment.

More and more countries have been getting rid of Covid entry requirements as the coronavirus becomes less of a public concern. Finland's decision to open its borders will add yet another country to this list of fully reopened countries. After the reopening of Finland's borders, there will only be six countries in Europe that still have entry requirements for international travelers, including:

  • The Netherlands
  • Spain
  • Portugal
  • France
  • Luxembourg

So, What Makes Finland Worth The Visit?

Finland has been ranked as the happiest country in the world for five years in a row by the World Happiness Report. Finland's picturesque landscape, laid-back culture, low crime rates, and high standard of living all contribute to its happiest country in the world ranking. Visitors to Finland can certainly take in the culture and landscape while enjoying the country's safety. Perhaps, some of the happiness can be brought home.

Tent Underneath the Northern Lights in Finland

For those who love the outdoors, Finland is home to thousands of lakes surrounded by incredible landscapes. Take advantage of the “Right to Roam” and pitch a tent anywhere you like as long as you are not disturbing others or the natural habitat. If you are lucky, you may find yourself sleeping beneath the northern lights.

If socializing is your thing, Finland is a great place to meet new people. Visitors are welcomed and met with warm hospitality. Finland is, after all, the happiest country on earth. The country's capital city, Helsinki, offers a vibrant nightlife with a variety of options. From pubs to rock concerts, there is plenty on offer in this lively city.

For those interested in calling Finland home for more than a week or two, the country offers a visa for a stay of up to 6 months for digital nomads. The income requirement is modest at approximately $14,000 per year, and the visa fee is roughly $400. This is a wonderful way for those who can work from anywhere to take in more of what Finland has to offer while continuing to make a living.

Regardless of the motivation behind a visit to Finland, travel to this country is about to get much easier for everyone, regardless of vaccination status or country of origin. As more countries begin to open their borders again, travelers can once again feel confident in their future travel plans to Finland and beyond.

While people can ride around in Ubers in the US together, but friends can’t come into the country because they didn’t trust the experiments. Good for Scandinavia! Most beautiful women in the world are there too
