Mexico and the United States will not ban flights from the UK as other countries around the world have done in response to a new strain of COVID-19 that spreads faster than others.

The United States May Impose Mandatory Testing For UK Travelers
Two officials told CNN that the U.S. government is considering requiring all travelers from the UK to present proof of a negative COVID-19 test before arrival in the United States.
Dr. Anthony Fauci stated that the United States should “without a doubt keep an eye on it, but we don't want to overreact” and said that he would advise against banning all flight from the United Kingdom.

Mexico Will Not Ban UK Flights Confirms President
The President of Mexico Andrés Manuel López Obrador stated on Monday that Mexico will not ban flights from the UK at this time.
“Doctors say it's a new variant which has caused countries to react. Our specialists say that we have to wait, not act politically without having all the technical information” he said during his public press conference.
Currently, London has direct flights to Cancun and Mexico City.

Other Countries That Have Imposed Travel Restrictions For The UK
Ecuador has stated that all travelers from the UK must present a negative COVID-19 test no older than 10 days.
Greece has said that all travelers from the UK will face a mandatory quarantine and be tested upon arrival.
Mauritius has banned any traveler that has been in the UK in the last 14 days.
Paraguay has banned any non-Paraguayan that has been in the UK From entering the country from December 21st to January 4th.
Portugal has banned all non residents coming from the UK.
Spain will require all travelers from the UK to present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test.

Trinidad and Tobago will require all travelers coming from the UK to undergo supervised quarantine for up to 14 days.
Several United States airlines will test all passenger before entering New York State including:
- British Airways
- Delta
- Virgin Atlantic
CNN reported that Virgin Atlantic will also test all UK travelers headed anywhere in the United States starting December 24th.

Will The Vaccine Work Against The New COVID-19 Variant?
At this time, neither Pfizer or Moderna can guarantee their vaccines are effective against the new strain of COVID-19. Officials from both companies stated that they will be testing their COVID-19 vaccines against the new faster-spreading version of the virus in the coming weeks.

The second wave of the virus combined with a new faster spreading variant of COVID-19 is crippling travel worldwide. New daily case records continue to be broken in almost every corner of the world and more countries are imposing tougher travel restrictions over the holidays.
