We never thought we would be saying this. If you were born in the 80's or 90's almost everyone had one. The infamous FANNY PACK is back and it looks like it's here to stay.

The fanny pack recently made a shocking comeback and the travel community has embraced it. We aren't talking about the typical senior tourist coming off a swanky cruise ship. From Instagram Influencers to millennials, it seems everyone is starting to jump on board this fashion trend. In fact, fanny packs are so popular they made up 25% of the US accessories sales growth for 2018.

"The women’s bag business really needed something new to drive excitement, and the concept of wearing fanny packs accomplished this. Some fanny packs are actually convertible to shoulder bags and/or crossbody bags, which is an added bonus since function and versatility has become important to consumers,"

If you’re contemplating wading into the weird and wonderful world of fanny packs, there are plenty of options. Not just which one you buy, but also how you wear it. Fanny packs can go over your behind or around your middle; they can be slung over the shoulder or across the chest.

Not everyone loves the idea of calling them fanny packs so depending where your searching to get in on this current trend, they may be called “waist bags” and in the UK they're know as “bum bags”.

The trend isn't just isolated to females. Back in 2016 Matthew McConaughey may have been one of the reasons men are wearing them more today, as he sported his fanny pack at a Red Sox game.

“I’m not afraid of the fanny pack. You gotta kind of put it on the side to make it look a little not as nerdy, but still, practicality wins out. I got so much gear in here that I don’t want in my pockets.”

From hidden money belts to large fanny packs, this might just become the MUST HAVE travel accessory for 2019.
