The revival of trains for tourism shows no sign of stopping.
Now, two of Europe’s most popular and iconic cities will finally be connected by direct train again.
For the first time in two years, there will be a direct train service between Paris and Milan.
Two beautiful and culturally rich cities that are well worth exploring.

This service was suspended back in 2023 due to a landslide in the French Alpes, but the Tentitalia France trainline just announced that the service would resume on April 1 (and no, this isn’t an April Fools Day gag!)
Here’s everything you need to know about this train route.
Exploring This Exciting Route
This route will begin in Paris and end in Milan, traveling via Turin.
The end-to-end journey will take either 6 hours 37 minutes or 6 hours 49 minutes in total, depending on the time of day you travel.

The route will make two round trips per day so you can travel at the time that suits you best, and the length of your stay in each city can be completely flexible, too.
You can spend a week immersing yourself in Milanese culture or take a single-day whistle-stop tour of Paris. The choice is entirely yours!
The train will depart from Paris at 6.41am and 3.18 pm, arriving in Milan at 1.50 pm and 10.07 pm. The journey back to Paris will depart from Milan at 6.25am and 5.53pm, arriving in Paris at 1.23pm and 10.34pm.
And as an added bonus, tickets are incredibly affordable.

I looked at prices for the week that the route launches and tickets between Paris and Milan were 35 euros ($36.70) each way in standard class and 55 euros ($57.68) each way in business class. If you opt for business class then these carriages have larger reclining leather seats.
A Rail Renaissance
This is the latest journey to be announced in what is a real rail renaissance, especially in Europe.
And new routes are being launched all the time. In June Tentitalia France will launch another new French route, this time between Paris and Marseilles.

If you’re traveling between multiple European destinations, then it’s likely that you’ll find train travel as affordable and convenient as flying, perhaps even more so!
So why choose Paris and Milan? Both are iconic European destinations that attract a huge number of tourists thanks to their culture, architecture, food, and nightlife.
And both are international hubs with huge numbers of inbound flights from the U.S. making them great starting points for wider European exploration.

Exploring Paris And Milan
Paris is known as the city of lights and the city of love.
It’s packed with iconic attractions such as the Eiffel Tower and the Champs Elysees that every first-time visitor should explore, as well as incredible museums.
And if you’re traveling on a budget, many of these museums are free to enter. Explore the impressive Musée Carnavalet, which is dedicated to the history of Paris.
The Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris is an excellent contemporary art museum that also doesn’t have an admission fee.

And on the first Sunday of each month, every museum in the city is free too, which is a great time to explore those spots that interest you but you don’t want to pay for!
I love Paris, and one of the first things that springs to my mind when I think of the city is the food.
If you’re feeling boujee, then visit Ladurée for its renowned macarons. They’re my favorite!
Not feeling spendy? You can even get macrons from McDonalds in France! There’s delicious food everywhere you turn.
Want to eat in an authentic French Bistro? Recoin is considered the best in the city thanks to its locally sourced ingredients and authentic dishes.
Meanwhile, Milan is now a six-and-a-half-hour train ride away and has its own unique vibe and rich cultural heritage.

The stunning Duomo Cathedral is by far the most popular tourist attraction here, and it’s an impressive spot every first-timer should visit.
From here head to Santa Maria delle Grazie: this is where you’ll find Leonardo da Vinci's famous Last Supper, and seeing it in the flesh is a bucket list dream come true.
Want to relax and unwind? Head into the Parco Sempione, which is a huge green space and a great place for calm in the heart of the city, as well as an amazing place for people watching.
