Rome. The city of ancient wonders, cobbled streets, and mouthwatering cuisine.

It's a place that's been on my travel bucket list forever, and finally, I had the chance to experience its magic firsthand.

But amid the crowds and iconic landmarks, I discovered a hidden gem that elevated my Roman adventure to a whole new level: Palazzo Venere.

Location, Location, Location!

You know how they say location is everything? Well, Palazzo Venere takes the cake here.

You step out the door and you're practically face-to-face with the iconic Piazza del Popolo.

A short stroll in another direction, and you're at the Spanish Steps, ready to climb your way to breathtaking views (or people-watch with a cappuccino!).

Seriously, the convenience was unbeatable for us.  We were able to hit all the major sights without spending half our days figuring out transport.

More time for pasta and wine, am I right?

Suite Dreams Are Made Of This

While location may be everything, a close second is where you lay your head at night. So, let's talk about the rooms!  We opted for the Open Suite, and it was pure luxury.

Spacious, stylish, and enough room for the whole family to spread out if you are traveling with kiddos, these rooms had everything we needed and more.

We had the place to ourselves, so it felt really cozy. And having 2 bathrooms was great for getting ready to go out at night!

But the real kicker?  The attention to detail. From the plush bedding to the elegant furnishings, everything felt meticulously curated to make sure your stress melted away when you closed your door.

It was the kind of place where you could truly unwind and feel like royalty.

Exploring Rome was amazing, but we were genuinely excited to get back to the hotel every night.

In fact, we were so comfortable that one night we didn’t even leave! We had pizza delivered and watched Gladiator (where better to do that than Rome?).

Ancient Wonders On Your Doorstep

Get ready to step back in time, because some of Rome's most iconic landmarks are just a stone's throw away from the hotel.

We never got a cab anywhere because everything we wanted to see was within walking distance.

Some of our top must-sees include:

  • The Colosseum: This legendary amphitheater is a must-see for any visitor to Rome. Imagine the gladiatorial battles, the roaring crowds… it's enough to give you goosebumps. And guess what? You can walk there from Palazzo Venere. (Pro tip: Book your tickets online in advance here to skip the lines, and definitely spring for the Arena tickets!)

  • The Roman Forum: Ever wondered what life was like in ancient Rome? Wander through the ruins of the Forum and you'll get a glimpse into the heart of the Roman Empire. Temples, government buildings, bustling marketplaces… it's all here, frozen in time, and it really FEELS like you’ve stepped back in time.
  • Palatine Hill: For the best views of the Forum (and a dose of mythology), head up to Palatine Hill. Legend has it that this is where Romulus and Remus, the founders of Rome, were raised by a she-wolf (you’ll see this image depicted throughout the city). Talk about a history lesson with a view!
  • Pantheon: This temple-turned-church boasts the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world, and it has been there for thousands of years! And the oculus, a circular opening in the ceiling, creates a mesmerizing beam of light that moves throughout the day.
  • Vatican City: Okay, this one requires a bit more than a quick stroll, but it's still easily accessible from Palazzo Venere. Explore St. Peter's Basilica, marvel at Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel, and lose yourself in the vast collection of art and artifacts at the Vatican Museums.
  • Statue of Marcus Aurelius: For my fellow Stoicism enthusiasts, a visit to the Capitoline Museums to see the equestrian statue of Marcus Aurelius is a must. This bronze masterpiece, depicting the philosopher-emperor on horseback, is a powerful reminder of Stoic virtues like wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance, and has stood tall since around 180AD.

This was half the reason I wanted to go to Rome in the first place! Incredible experience if you are a fellow stoic.

And that's just the beginning!  With Palazzo Venere as your base, you can easily explore the Trevi Fountain and countless other historical gems.

We could have spent weeks in Rome and seen new and exciting sights every single day from Palazzo Venere.

There was SO much to do and see, and coming back to Palazzo Venere at the end of every day was a real treat. While we loved Rome, we would come back just for this hotel.

Concierge Extraordinaire

Okay, back to the hotel, I have to give a shout-out to the concierge team.

These guys and gals were absolute rockstars. Marzia, in particular, was a highlight of our time in Rome and helped us plan so many different aspects of our time in the city.

Need a dinner reservation at that impossible-to-get-into trattoria?  Consider it done.  Want to arrange a private tour of the Vatican?  No problem.  They went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.

We asked roughly a billion questions and were never turned away no matter what time it was or what our question was.

For example, we asked where we could buy bubble wrap nearby around 11pm and got nothing but smiles and help in return!

A Luxurious Vibe That Doesn't Break the Bank

One thing I loved about Palazzo Venere was that it felt truly luxurious without being pretentious or stuffy.

The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff were friendly and approachable.

It was the perfect blend of elegance and comfort.

Plus, the amazing breakfast each morning became the perfect way to start our day before heading out for adventures in Rome, and saved us money and time by not having to find breakfast each morning.

Want to Live La Dolce Vita?

If you're looking for a Roman escape that's equal parts stylish and serene, Palazzo Venere is the place to be.

Trust me, you won't regret it.

(P.S.  Don't forget to pack your walking shoes and your appetite.  You're going to need both in Rome!)
