Serbia has officially reopened for tourism!
As of May 22nd 2020, Serbia is allowing visitors to travel to the country under normal ‘pre-Covid’ regulations. That includes no mandatory testing and no isolation period for arriving tourists.
Testing Update August 15
As the situation has changed since reopening in May, Serbia has now implemented PCR tests for tourists coming from 4 countries.
Passengers coming from and/or residents of Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania and Northern Macedonia will have to take a negative PCR test no older than 48 hours to enter Serbia as of Saturday, August 15th.
Can All Countries Visit Serbia?
Serbia is now operating under regular and ‘pre-pandemic’ border regulations, so all normal countries that could visit Serbia before, can again now.
For example: citizens from the USA, Canada, Australia and the UK can visit Serbia for tourism up to 90 days at a time Visa-free under regular rules, which have now been reinstated.
However, any country that normally could not enter Serbia without proper paperwork, like Kosovo for example, is still held under normal regulations. Any nation that usually requires a visa to enter Serbia can now apply through their consulate, as they have resumed visa processing.
Have Flights Resumed To Serbia?
Yes. Many international flights have resumed into Serbia and are arriving daily. AirSerbia for example has flights coming in from Paris, Frankfurt, New York City, London, Vienna, Zurich, Prague, Athens, Sarajevo, Sofia, Dusseldorf, and Amsterdam in June.
What’s open in Serbia?
Subject to social distancing, reduced capacities and proper health protocols, here’s what’s currently open in Serbia:
- Hotels and accommodations
- Public gatherings limited to 1000 people
- Salons, barbers and spas
- Farmer’s markets
- Retail stores, shopping malls and boutiqes
- Gyms and fitness centres
- Restaurants and cafes
- Bus and rail public transportation
- Smaller casinos and gambling facilities
- Some tourist attractions like museums, galleries, etc.
Serbia gets its fair share of tourism. In 2019 they recorded over 2 million tourists, which plummeted more than 98% these past few months.
The most popular cities for tourists to visit in Serbia include: Belgrade, Novi Sad and Nis.
There are nationwide rules in place restricting movement and limiting activity. It is mandatory to maintain physical distance of at least 1.5m in all public spaces.
Protective face masks are mandatory in all public spaces, both indoors and outdoors. Failure to wear a mask when required will incur a fine.
Indoor and outdoor gatherings are limited to 30 people. Businesses, with the exception of pharmacies and petrol stations, are not allowed to operate between 11pm and 6am.

Thank you for all this info about Serbia. We work with tourists here and I am surprised with the number of tourists in Belgrade. Especially from UK, SAD... Since there is no ban to enter our country, some travelers will probably stay stuck here until the covid is over. Just wear masks inside and keep a distance. Everything is open as regular but some clubs and restaurants works until 11pm. Enjoy Serbia during Covid, what can I say, we met a lot of travelers and they didn't have any problem.
