Photography buffs and influencers flock to Texas to snap up some of the country’s most photogenic scenery. But with so many options, it can be overwhelming to choose the best spot to get your unique shot. From suburban street art to rugged mountain ranges, we have found the nine most Instagrammable spots in all of Texas.
Memorable Murals
Texas is full of colorful murals so keep your eyes peeled for impressive street art. Austin is home to some of the biggest and brightest – literally. The Tau Ceti mural on the corner of Brazos and 2nd St; takes up the entire 103ft of the 10 story building. Its rainbow colors play with light and perspective, making it a great backdrop to strike a bold pose. In Houston, you can’t miss the Graffiti Park, with walls of incredible murals that stretch all around the block. If you’re feeling inspired to tag more than just your Instagram post, drive up Route 66 to the Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo. You can add your own art to the 10 painted Cadillacs at the interactive installation.
Mckinney Falls State Park
Get up close and personal with nature at Mckinney Falls State Park, and practice your nature photography among the varied landscape. Catch the splash of the mesmerizing falls where Onion Creek pours across the limestone ledges. Then capture the rugged beauty of the park’s nature trails as you search for “Old Baldy”, the 500 years old bald cypress tree. This 100ft giant is a popular subject of photography; especially for so-called ‘tree huggers’.
Thanks-Giving Square
Don’t be fooled by the misleading name, the Thanks-Giving Square in Dallas has nothing to do with turkey and pumpkin pie. The square was designed as a peaceful spiritual sanctuary in the city, where all religions can come together to give thanks. This zen space is a great place to take some quick pics, especially inside the Thanks-Giving Chapel. You will find the spiraling stained glass ceiling shedding its rainbow around the room giving you a great opportunity to snap a selfie.
The Rio Grande
It wouldn’t really be a trip to Texas if you didn’t get a picture of the stunning Rio Grande winding through the desert. To get the best of the Rio Grande, spend a few days floating along the river on an adventurous float trip with local outfitters. Take your time to get the perfect sunset shot of the Boquillas Canyon walls and desert expanses.
Blanton Museum of Art
Make sure to check out Austin’s Blanton Museum of Art on Thursday when admission is free. The museum’s architecture is an interactive work of art in itself, from the “stacked waters” stairwell installation to the circular stained glass wall. It’s the perfect place for modeling a pop of color or an impromptu photoshoot. The museum hosts a permanent collection of European, Latin American, and contemporary art, as well as unique international exhibitions for you to explore.
The atx Sculpture
While in Austin you can’t miss the iconic atx sculpture in front of the Whole Foods at Fifth Street and North Lamar Boulevard. The sign is an Austin landmark and was designed to celebrate the city. The team of artists who designed it (Ion Art) built it to be an interactive feature, and encourage visitors to do whatever it takes to get the perfect shot – including sitting, standing, and climbing on the sculpture!
Palo Duro Canyon State Park
The second-largest canyon in the country, Palo Duro Canyon State Park, makes a picturesque backdrop for a fun photoshoot. Hike the trails to explore the landscape of layered rock, or take a horseback tour from Old West Stables to get some unforgettable equestrian shots. Stay the night amid fairy lights, wildflowers, and porch-side hammock vibes in a minimalist cabin at Palo Duro Glamping.
Hamilton Pool Preserve
Although swimming isn’t always guaranteed, you’d better bring your bikini to the cavern waterfall pool at Hamilton Pool Preserve. The dreamy 50ft waterfall pours over the canyon edge into the otherworldly pool of the collapsed grotto. This spot is truly one-of-a-kind and is sure to turn your followers as green with envy as the turquoise waters of the pool. Book your reservation in advance through the website and check for information about guided hikes to learn about the history of the preserve.
Fort Worth Water Gardens
An unexpected oasis in downtown Fort Worth, the Water Gardens are known for their unique architecture and engineering. The three pools combine to create an interactive fountain installation of geometric patterns. Every angle offers you an opportunity to strike a pose in creative compositions.

Texas doesn't deserve tourism dollars at the moment or influencer promotions on Insta. Part of travel and tourism should be ethics and sustainability. I certainly won't spend my money that strips away reproductive rights for women and then encourages people to sue with rewarding with bounties.
