Thinking about your next adventure? TripAdvisor just released the 2024 Travelers' Choice list of the top attractions in the world, and an iconic U.S. attraction tops the list.
How many of these attractions have you been to, and which are on your bucket list?
Here's a look at the best attractions in the world according to TripAdvisor (plus my tips on whether or not these attractions are worth your money!)
10. Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque Center, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Price: Free
Tickets: None needed
Worth it? This is one of two places on the list I haven't personally been to yet, but given that it's totally free to visit and looks super cool, I don't see why you'd want to skip this while in Abu Dhabi!
9. Duomo di Milano, Milan, Italy
Price: €10
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? Personally, I'd give this a skip unless you really want to see the interior of the church. I don't typically like paying to enter churches, and there are literally hundreds of beautiful cathedrals you can visit for free in Italy!
Note that you can enter the Duomo for free for prayer and worship, but you'll need a ticket for a tourist visit.
Going up to the dome and terraces on top of the church costs extra.
8. Gardens by the Bay, Singapore, Singapore
Price: Free
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? This is the other attraction I haven't been to yet, but it's definitely on my bucket list!
This is one of the most iconic things to do in Singapore, and visiting most of the Gardens by the Bay is totally free.
However, there are just some additional paid attractions that do seem worth the cost — tickets for Flower Dome and Cloud Forest are $23.60, but these two attractions look really cool.
7. Louvre Museum, Paris, France
Price: €22
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? The Louvre is for sure worth a visit. It's the most visited museum in the world for a reason!
Note that if you're visiting Paris on the first Friday of the month, you can visit the Louvre for free after 6 PM (but you'll still need to reserve free tickets in advance!)
6. Colosseum, Rome, Italy
Price: €18
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? Definitely! This is something you can't skip in Rome.
Note that tickets include admission to the Colosseum and the nearby Roman Forum and Palatine Hill.
This is something you will definitely want to book in advance to avoid waiting in a long line or having tickets sell out.
5. Cayman Crystal Caves, Grand Cayman, Caribbean
Price: $45
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? While the Cayman Crystal Caves are unique, the only way to see them is on a guided tour.
I don't think they're a must-do in Grand Cayman, but if it's something you're really interested in seeing, then it's a cool activity that's worth it.
4. Basílica de la Sagrada Familia, Barcelona, Spain
Price: €26
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? Visiting the Sagrada Familia is pricy, but I do think it's worth it. It's a million times prettier on the inside than it is on the outside.
It's also worth the extra €4 for a guided tour if you're already paying €26 just to go inside the cathedral.
3. Anne Frank House, Amsterdam, The Netherlands
Price: €16
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? Absolutely! This is an incredibly moving and impactful experience. I recommend booking the regular museum ticket plus the additional €7 introductory program before your visit.
Tickets for this museum sell out so you must book early. Every Tuesday at 10 AM CET, tickets are released for dates six weeks later.
2. Eiffel Tower, Paris, France
Price: €35.30
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? Seeing the Eiffel Tower is worth it. But actually taking the elevator up to the observation deck at the top? Not so much. It's really expensive and the view you get is missing one key element — the Eiffel Tower itself!
I recommend having a picnic in the Champ de Mars park in front of the Eiffel Tower instead. If you want a great view of the tower, go up to the free observation deck on top of the Galeries Lafayette department store.
1. Empire State Building, New York City, United States
Price: $44
Tickets: Book online here
Worth it? No. Tip from a New Yorker: The Empire State Building doesn't actually have the best views. You can't actually see the building itself from the observation deck, and it's the most iconic skyscraper in the New York skyline!
Instead, I recommend visiting the Top of the Rock observation deck. It's similarly priced, and offers similar skyline views — with the addition of an incredible direct view of the Empire State Building!
