Booking.com has looked at the destinations that their customers are booking the most for 2024 right now.

These are the top 10 trending destinations for 2024: 

Beppu, Japan 

Travel to Japan surged in popularity during 2023 with the large metropolitan cities of Tokyo and Japan attracting huge numbers of visitors.  

This year Japan’s rural destinations are trending rather than its urban heart. Beppu is located in the Oita prefecture on the island of Kyushu and is best known for its onsen hot springs.

This is the perfect place to relax and unwind. The biggest attractions here are the visual spectacular of its themed springs which are designed to stimulate all of the senses.  

Valkenberg, Netherlands 

Interested in the rich culture of the Netherlands but don’t want to jostle with the crowds in the over touristed capital of Amsterdam?

You’re not alone with the lesser-known town of Valkenberg trending for 2024 instead.

Valkenberg is located in the south of the country and is best known for its castle on the hill: a rare sight in a city as flat as the Netherlands. This is a pretty town with outstanding views and a rural location.  

The town is surrounded by caves and exploring these is one of the most popular activities for tourists to the area. Gemeentegrot and Fluweelengrot are the biggest and best known.  

Vlore, Albania 

Albania is a beautiful country and although not well-known Vlore is actually its third largest city.

It sits alongside the Albanian Adriatic and Ionian Sea Coasts making it the perfect spot for a beach vacation.

The glorious coastline is the main attraction here thanks to the crystal clear waters but the city also has a fascinating history. It was founded during the 6th century BC and many ancient buildings are still standing here.  

And if you’re more interested in outdoor pursuits? You’re in luck. Vlore is close to the Llogara National Park which attracts climbers and hikers from all over the world.  

Chemnitz, Germany  

Located in Saxony Eastern Germany, Chemnitz is a fascinating city with a rich cultural heritage.

The biggest attraction here is the industrial architecture which is reminiscent of that of Eastern Berlin but without the crowds.

Head to SMAC which is a museum for archeology for fascinating exhibits or learn more about the Industrial Revolution in Germany which began in the city.

Rotorua, New Zealand 

New Zealand have been trending in 2023 thanks to their approach of only targeting the most affluent tourists but that doesn’t mean that you can’t explore the country on a budget.

Especially if you have a passion for the great outdoors.

Rotorua is in the heart of New Zealand’s North Island and its fascinating geothermal activity and outdoor activities are the main attraction.

Panglao, Philippines 

If you’re looking for a palm tree-fringed, white sand patch of paradise, then Panglao is the trending spot for you. It boasts world-class diving spots and is also a great place for snorkeling.

This is a lesser-known spot, but it is also known for its lively nightlife and laidback island lifestyle. The pace is slow here but it’s a great place to immerse yourself in local crafts and culture.

Cairns, Australia
