Nothing screams vintage charm and Old World opulence quite like an adventure onboard the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, and from 2026, you'll be able to travel between two of Europe's most glamorous destinations, all while being pampered like royalty.
Europe's most iconic luxury train, in operation since 1883, is set to run on a never-before-offered Paris to Amalfi route starting in spring.
From the grand Haussmann boulevards of the French capital to the postcard beach towns of Italy's southern coast, crowned with a one-night stay at one of the most beautiful hotels in the region, the Mediterranean-bound express train is looking like the journey of a lifetime.

Needless to say, it doesn't come cheap:
Not Your Average Train Journey
The first thing you should know is this isn't a regular train by any standards.
We're talking luxurious amenities and five-star service from start to finish: picture nostalgic chambers with a 1920s-inspired decor, with silk upholstery, delicate marble details, and in some rooms, even seating areas and ensuite showers.
For the Grand Suites, a dedicated 24-hour steward service, endless champagne, and even a private living area—in other words, it's like booking a 3-night all-inclusive stay at a St. Regis, except it's on wheels, and you wake up to different scenery looking out the window, in a new country, every morning.

There's also exquisite dining, provided by award-winning haute cuisine specialists. If their track record of tailoring menus to the routes they're servicing is anything to go by, you should expect a refined blend of French and Italian flavors.
This is the ‘Golden Age' of train travel, and the journey is truly the destination, but wait until you hear what comes next:
To The Ruins Of Pompeii And Beyond
The train terminates at Pompeii, where guests will be joined by a renowned archaeologist in exploring the perfectly-preserved Ancient Roman town, once buried under the ashes of a thunderous Vesuvius.

Once the excursion is finished, they will be directed to a ‘special boat', taking them straight to Positano, the quintessential Amalfi village: pastel-hue houses cling vertiginously to steep cliff drops, a scenic promenade stretches along a volcanic beach, and citrusy aromas are all around.
Once in Positano, they will be chauffeured up to Caruso, A Belmond Hotel, in the heart of the hilltop village of Ravello, popular for its picturesque villas and cobblestone streets.
Set in an 11th-century palace, it is equipped with terraced gardens and a landmark infinity pool commanding a breathtaking panorama over the Tyrrhenian Sea below. It is worth noting that both the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express and Caruso are owned by the LVMH group.

The best part is, once the train journey is finished, guests of the Orient Express will be welcomed to stay at the Caruso for two additional nights. That's five nights in total traveling in style, eating lavishly, and living like true European nobility.
Let's Talk Prices
Now for the part you've all been waiting for. How much will all of this extravaganza cost?
Reservations are now open on the official Venice Simplon-Orient-Express website, and cabins start from approximately $11,479 per person—including all meals, excursions, and transfers.

The latest Orient Express launch is only one of several exciting new train routes to debut across Europe in recent months, and connections between France and Italy in particular have been strengthening, particularly:
Last summer, the Espresso Riviera carried passengers from Rome all the way to the French Riviera. Likewise, train service has resumed from the French capital to Turin, dubbed by many the ‘Italian Paris'.
