There’s no better time than spring to rediscover the many, many gorgeous places that lie right here in the U.S.
The weather is dreamy, kids have yet to go on summer break and overrun the streets, and, best of all, you won’t have to pay an arm and a leg on travel costs alone to go someplace new and exciting.
And among the cities that have been booming with tourists this season, one, in particular, is seeing unprecedented numbers of visitors flocking to its famous attractions – Orlando.
According to Orlando Business Journal, the region’s biggest airport is set to welcome over 7.6 million travelers in the 44-day period that stretches from February 23rd to April 7th – that’s an average of over 172,000 tourists a day!
Orlando being an all-time favorite destination among American travelers comes as no surprise; after all, the city made it to a top 3 ranking less than a week ago.
However, the fact that this long-beloved hub is breaking tourism records yet again is nothing short of remarkable, so it’s worth exploring just how the city always keeps travelers coming back for more.
Let’s dive right in!
The Perfect Family-Friendly Spring Break
When it comes to some good ol’ family-friendly entertainment, Orlando is hard to beat.
Home to some of the most famous theme parks on Earth (notably Walt Disney World Resort, Universal Studios Florida, and SeaWorld Orlando), the city is unparalleled in terms of the options it offers travelers when it comes to all-ages entertainment.
So, whether you’re taking a little one with you or just want to explore the magic of some of the world’s most famous rides as an adult, take advantage of the balmy weather and book those tickets along with the many other people eager to have some stress-free fun.
However, if you’re traveling alone or with an adults-only group, I’d highly recommend steering clear of spring break dates, which are mostly concentrated between March 11th and April 1st.
I know that eliminates a good chunk of the season, but believe me, you’ll be happy to avoid the loud crowds of children and teens.
The Weather Is To Die For
Most of you don’t need me to tell you how warm and sunny a Florida city is in spring, but I still want to quickly mention the temperatures you can expect to deal with this upcoming season so you can pack accordingly.
Throughout March, temperatures can be described as “comfortable,” ranging anywhere from 60°F to 77°F (15.5°C to 25°C).
Come April and May, though, you’ll want to be prepared to brave the hot mid-day sun, though temperatures still stay within an acceptable 66°F to 87°F (19°C to 30°C) range.
Prices Have Yet To Reach Their Summer Peak
Since school isn’t over yet and most people save their travels for summer, prices across most of the country have yet to reach their peak, and Orlando is no exception.
That’s why so many people are rushing to take advantage of the fine balance between great weather and reasonable prices that only happens in spring.
Now, whether that’s a chicken-or-the-egg situation that’ll ultimately make spring more expensive than summer in the long run since people are breaking tourism records right now is still unclear.
What we do know is that you can currently take advantage of some great deals – round-trip plane tickets start at $38 and highly-rated hotels are offering rooms at less than $100 a night.
So Much To Do And See Beyond The Theme Parks
While it’s hard to shake the public’s perception of Orlando as just a place where Disney World and Universal are located (the city’s reputation as the theme park capital of the world doesn’t help, either), the truth of the matter is that there’s a lot more to do around here.
If you check out Orlando’s official events schedule, you’ll notice that there are plenty of fun concerts, festivals, and gatherings to look forward to this spring.
The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, the Universal Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval, and the Dionne Warwick concert are just a few of the unmissable events taking place in the city these upcoming months.
