Our favorite hotel in Mexico unfortunately doesn't fall into the “budget” category but if you are looking for a romantic winter getaway without the kids check out our review of Villa Premier in Puerto Vallarta. For families we would highly suggest Velas Vallarta All Inclusive Resort. Where ever you decide to warm up this winter, happy travels!

I would be careful about recommending any hotel in Acapulco. It's not the tourist destination it once was back in the 60's and 70's. Agree you have to be careful of anywhere you travel, but there's a reason this 5 star hotel is only $59. https://www.dw.com/en/extortion-in-acapulco-victims-often-abducted-and-driven-to-atms/a-45873796
