Yeeeeehaw to Ni-Hao!

For the first time in History, nonstop flights are launching from Texas all the way to Taiwan!

For decades, cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco have monopolized United States-Asia travel due to the West Coast serving as a gateway to the Orient and also the historical links (San Francisco has the highest percentage of Chinese descendants of any major U.S. city).

This changes starting next year, as Dallas/Fort Worth is set to host nonstop flights from Taiwan, bringing travelers based in the southern U.S. closer to the Asian gem:

Fly Nonstop From Texas To Taiwan

As confirmed by Clay Sun, the President of EVA Air, a Taiwan-based airline, new flights from Taiwan to Texas are set to start on November 3rd, 2025, with five times operated per week between their Taipei-Tayouan hub and Dallas.

Taipei Tayouan International (TPE) serves both Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, as well as Tayouan City, and it marks a first in aviation history for Dallas, which has never enjoyed nonstop connections to this fast-growing Asian destination.

According to the Simple Flying report, the route is likely to be operated by EVA's Boeing 787-9, though that is yet to be confirmed.

Based on estimates provided by Dr. James Pearson, Simple Flying's Route Analyst, only 24,000 passengers traveled between Dallas and Taipei between July 2023 and July 2024, making this an ‘interesting' pick for EVA.

It's certainly not the busiest route, but it's one with potential, as Dallas is the world's third-busiest airport by passenger volume alone.

Pearson also reiterates that Taipei is an important transit hub, with passengers being able to stopover in Taiwan on their way to a number of Asian hotspots, including Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, Manila in the Philippines, and the Chinese-administered Hong Kong.

So far, timetables have not been announced.

Why Visit Taiwan In 2025?

As for Taiwan, it is one of the most vibrant destinations in Asia, and an island nation fringed by beaches, dotted with centuries-old villages centered around historic pagodas, and littered with sprawling metropolises that never sleep.

Its capital, Taipei, is filled with night markets, with a bustling Shilin drawing in millions of visitors, well-frequented shopping streets, and numerous skyscrapers, most notably Taipei 101, a 509-meter-tall high-rise shaped like bamboo.

If you're looking for something unique to make your trip to Taipei memorable, make sure you take the scenic gondola ride along the winding canals at the foot of Maokong Mountain and, at the very top, enjoy the breathtaking views of the city's innovative skyline.

Away from the chaos of Taipei, escape into nature in Taroko Gorge, an outstandingly beautiful natural formation with a rushing river of clear-turquoise waters edged by towering marble cliffs, or the coastal Kenting National Park, lined with white sand beaches and coral reefs.

If you're a culture buff, laid-back Jiufen, a mountain town just east of the capital, has an Old Town crisscrossed by narrow pathways and rows upon rows of teahouses, though Taiwan's leading cultural destination is in Tainan:

The oldest city on the island, it is famous for its temple-packed historic center, which essentially functions as an open-air museum, and monumental Anping Fort, home to the notorious Grand Mazu and Confucius Temples.
