Every year, Americans love to get outdoors and enjoy the sun and nature. This is the season for the many outdoor summer festivals happening all over the country. This summer, Americans will get back to celebrate the season with music and adventure. Although some popular festivals have been postponed until 2022, here is a preview of a few of the best outdoor festivals for summer 2021.
US Music Festivals
Music festivals and the summer season have been a pastime for decades. Here are some of the popular music festivals happening this summer.
This hard rock festival concert has been going on since 1991. The Lollapalooza festival has become one of the best music festivals where top rock stars started out. The scheduled headliners for the 2021 concert are Foo Fighters, Journey and Miley Cyrus. There are also over 100 other bands are set to play this year. Concert goers can also enjoy food for sale from some of Chicago’s finest restaurants at Chow Town. This year Lollapalooza happens from July 29-August 1 at Chicago’s Grant Park.
Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival
Music fans will have the time of their life at Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival this September 2-5. The festival presents some of the biggest music artists from a wide range of genres. This year, the festival celebrates ‘20 years of magic on the farm’. The 2021 headliners include Megan thee Stallion, Tame Impala, Lana Del Ray and Run the Jewels, plus an additional lineup of 150 plus more musicians. Besides the music, other activities scheduled at Bonnaroo include yoga instruction, parades, an arts and crafts market and even a waterslide.
Governors Ball Music Festival
Say goodbye to summer this year on September 24-26 at New York’s Governors Ball Music Festival. This festival is held at Citi Field in Queens, showcases the best in the music industry from hip hop, rock, pop and electronic music genres. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the festival. Headliners scheduled for 2021 include J Balvin, 21 Savage, Billie Eilish and A$AP Rocky, plus many more. Due to Covid, the festival was pushed to late September. In 2022, The Governors Ball Music Festival will return to its usual date in June.
US Adventure Festivals
Adventure fans gather every year at various festivals throughout the country. Notable adventure festivals include the following happening this summer.
Adventure Sports Week Tahoe
Adventure travelers will head to Lake Tahoe this June 18-27th for a week of great outdoor sports events. Experienced athletes may want to compete in the Tahoe Off Road Triathlon, the Sierra Open Water Swim Series, or Lake Tahoe Mountain Bike Race. Other scheduled activities during Sports Week include a golf tournament, farmer’s market, and Sunday concerts held at Downtown Commons Beach. The festival also has many children’s activities planned for the week as well. Every evening, the festival kicks up the celebration with live music, food and movie premiers.
Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival
Head to Canon City, Colorado this July 23-24 for the Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival. Over the weekend, Centennial Park is full of retail vendors, food trucks and information booths. The Build Your Own Boat Race, a crowd favorite, is where guests compete to win a prize of $1,000 for the best constructed boat. On the land guests can compete in trail runs, mountain bike rides and the Hot Diggity Dog Weenie Race. There are two stages set up at the festival which feature the music of local bands, and performers from around the country. The Royal Gorge Whitewater Festival is all about boats, bands and beer for a weekend of fun events.
Spokatopia Outdoor Adventure Festival
Get your outdoor action going on in mid-September at Spokatopia Outdoor Adventure Festival. Festival goers enjoy mountain biking, paddleboards, rock climbing and even yoga classes. In between activities, adult guests can have a beer at the Bikes and Brews beverage garden. There will also be many exhibitor booths at the festival offering product samples and demonstrations. They will also be selling the latest in outdoor adventure gear. The Spokatopia Outdoor Adventure Festival happens on Saturday, September 18th.
