The coronavirus pandemic has done more than just curb travel around the world. Restrictions imposed with safety in mind have changed our lives in several areas, from how we socialize to how to work, and have flipped many people’s lives upside down. Thankfully, as cases fall and the number of vaccinated people rises, restrictions are beginning to be repealed.

That’s certainly the case in California, where the latest easing of restrictions will see American cultural landmarks such as Disneyland and baseball stadiums open to the public once more. Here’s a look at these changes in more detail.

Disneyland And Ball Parks Set To Reopen In California

Disneyland Set To Reopen – Informational For Travelers

For travelers, thrill-seekers and Disney fanatics alike, the closure of Disneyland California in March of last year represented more than just a theme park closing – it represented a change to life as we knew it. However, Friday’s announcement that Disneyland could re-open went some way towards restoring a little bit of magic into what has been a tough year for all concerned.

The news follows new public health rules that will see outdoor venues be able to open once more, albeit with restrictions in place. Amusement parks are permitted to open in counties that have made the change from the purple tier – the most restrictive of California’s tiers – to the red tier, the second most restrictive. Whilst Disneyland is currently in a purple-tier country, the reduction in case numbers means that the county is expected to move in to a red tier soon.

Park capacities will be limited, whilst those visiting will have to wear masks in order to stay safe. Indoor dining will not be available, whilst indoor rides with be limited. Theme parks in the red tier can operate at 15% capacity, meaning that prospective travelers may have a battle on their hands when it comes to securing tickets.

Only California residents may visit when the park re-opens, with the state currently enforcing a travel advisory that asks residents not to travel more than 120 miles from their homes.

Disneyland is set to re-open from April 1st. Other amusement parks, such as Magic Mountain and Universal Studios, are also set to reopen with the same restrictions as Disneyland will be facing. Andrea Zinder, president of a union that represents Disney workers, stated that employees are “excited to go back to work and provide Californians with a bit more magic in their lives.”

Ball Parks Set To Reopen – What Travelers Should Know

Fans of baseball were also bound to be buoyed by the news that ball parks could reopen along with theme parks. Whilst sporting events in the purple tier are limited to only 100 spectators, the number increases to 67% of capacity for counties in the yellow tier.

Baseball teams San Diego Padres, Los Angeles Angels and Oakland Athletic have each declared that they will be welcoming fans into their stadiums for the opening games of the season, whilst fellow California teams the LA Dodgers and San Francisco Giants begin their seasons on the road, and have said they will announce their plans at a later date. Precise details for entry requirements and safety precautions at the games have yet to be finalized, whilst attendance will be limited to in-state visitors until counties are out of the yellow tier.
