Ecuador is a destination that has it all – mountains, jungles, beaches, busy cities, untouched nature, and everything in between.
Ecuador's low cost of visiting and hugely diverse tourism industry has seen the nation growing in popularity over the last few years. During the pandemic, those wishing to escape south have been looking towards Ecuador for their easier to fulfill entry requirements than many other countries in the region.
Here's everything you need to know about visiting Ecuador, including all testing, quarantines, and other covid-related entry requirements.
Countries Permitted To Visit Ecuador
Travelers from all countries are permitted to visit Ecuador under regular visa requirements.
Update: As of December 1, 2021, travelers from South Africa, Botswana, Egypt, Mozambique, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Swaziland, and Namibia are prohibited from entering Ecuador.
The land border between Colombia and Ecuador was supposed to open on Dec 1, 2021, but will now stay closed until at least 2022
Traveler Health Declaration Form
Passengers will need to complete the Traveler's Health Declaration Form before entering Ecuador and show it upon arrival.
Testing Requirements For Entry into Ecuador
Pre-Flight Testing Required.
As of March 22, 2021: All passengers will need to show proof of a negative PCR or Antigen test, taken no longer than 3-days before arrival into Ecuador.
Update as of December 1, 2021: Due to Omicron fears, Ecuador is now requiring all arrivals to show BOTH a negative 72-hour PCR test and proof of full vaccination or recovery for entry.
Exemptions from PCR testing – Passengers under 16 years old do not need to provide a PCR test.
Ecuador's Quarantine Entry Requirements
No quarantine is applied for travelers who fulfill the 3-day negative PCR test requirement.

Travel Insurance Entry Requirements for Ecuador
All travelers should have travel insurance the covers COVID-19 for the duration of their trip to Ecuador.
COVID-19 Health Requirements While in Ecuador
All visitors must follow these COVID-19 health requirements while in Ecuador:
- Wearing a mask is required in all public spaces, both indoor and outdoor
- Social distancing is in effect
- Public gatherings and events are prohibited
- Download the “Distancia2” app before going to beaches
- Shops, hotels, and restaurants are all open, but have capacity limits
Does Ecuador Have Vaccine Entry Requirements?
Yes, Ecuador requires proof of full vaccination for entry. Travelers who were diagnosed as COVID-19 positive in the last six months may present proof of recovery and good health in lieu of the vaccine certificate.
Visitors with ages 15 and younger can enter without proof of vaccination or recovery as long as they have a negative 72-hour COVID test.
Visa Entry Requirements For Ecuador
Most countries worldwide can visit Ecuador visa-free for up to 90 days, including Canada, the UK, and the USA.
Only 30 nations require to apply for a visa ahead of time, marked on the map below in grey.

- Check to see if your country needs a visa
- Perform a PCR/antigen test no longer than 3 days prior to arrival in Ecuador

Do monitors recognize that J & J vaccine is complete with the one dose? Is that vaccination sufficient for entry into Ecuador?
