Sure, every season has a special type of charm when it comes to exploring new places and taking in new cultures, but there’s just something about summer that makes the idea of an overseas getaway that much more irresistible.
Unfortunately for sun-seekers out there, though, just as the temperatures get hot enough for that dream beach holiday, airlines start slapping some truly insane prices on plane tickets, leaving us with the age-old dilemma – is booking a budget-friendly flight during the summer even possible?
As it turns out, the answer is a resounding “YES!”.
According to Skyscanner, this July will see airfare fall to its annual low not just for one but five gorgeous sunny hubs, so if you’re looking to plan the ultimate summer getaway on a budget this year, you’ll want to stick around until the end.
Aruba
Aruba is one of the hottest Caribbean hubs right now, and if you, too, are one of the millions of people planning to fly to the island this summer, you’ll be happy to learn that July will bring some of the lowest airfare prices you’ve ever seen.
Return tickets will start at just $226, and though that’s just the price for the Fort Lauderdale-Oranjestad route, the average range for US flights is still between $400 and $600, which is pretty reasonable considering where you’re going.
So, buckle up and prepare for a summer spent lounging around Eagle Beach, diving along the incredible coral reefs, and eating out at some of the Caribbean’s best restaurants – with prices like these, there’s nothing holding you back.
Bermuda
With so many new routes (see here and here) making travel to Bermuda easier than ever, it was only a matter of time before the prices dropped to more competitive levels, and it seems like that time has come!
This upcoming month, you’ll be able to travel to the island and back starting at just $263, and with so many flight options to choose from, you won’t have to sacrifice anything scheduling or comfort-wise, either.
St. Croix
As one of the three U.S. Virgin Islands, St. Croix is not only one of the most popular summer hotspots of 2024 but also the ultimate beachy escape for those who either don’t have or don’t want to use a passport – a valid ID is all you need to hop on a plane to Henry E. Rohlsen Airport.
This July, round-trip tickets will start at just a little over $100, and considering that the same exact flights can cost upwards of $600 throughout the end of the year, you’ll be making some serious savings.
Just imagine how much more you’ll be able to enjoy your time in Christiansted, Frederiksted, or even beaches like Sandy Point with all the extra money you’ll set aside by timing your booking right!
Dominica
Not to be confused with the iconic Dominican Republic, Dominica is a jaw-dropping destination in its own right.
And while there’s never really a bad time to visit this criminally underrated island nation, July might just be the best there is.
Not only is the weather to die for, but you can find round-trip tickets priced as low as $539.
Now, this is just a starting point and trips from most places cost something closer to the $700-$800 range, but remember that you’re going to a Caribbean island that’s 2000+ miles away – closing all travel expenses under $1000 is still a win!
Grenada
Last but not least we have Grenada, a once-overlooked destination that’s slowly but surely turning into one of the summer’s trendiest hotspots.
If you, too, want to see what the fuss is all about, there’s no better time to finally plan that Grenada trip than July.
Plane tickets will start at just a little over $450, which gives you plenty of room in your travel budget for cocktails at Grand Anse Beach, excursions at the famous Underwater Sculpture Park, and incredible meals at Dodgy Dock.
