Mazatlán, a city on Mexico’s pacific coast, is quickly becoming the next cruise port destination hotspot. The stunning colonial city keeps growing year after year with more cruise lines adding it to their itineraries. And I can see why- Mazatlán is a phenomenal city with lots to offer a day-tripping cruise tourist.
But is Mazatlán safe for cruisers?
Back in 2011 many cruise lines stopped coming to Mazatlán because of local crime and safety issues. However, the city has gone through a tremendous transformation and has re-surfaced with a much safer environment, prompting the cruise lines to come flooding back in.

Our opinion: YES, Mazatlán is safe to visit, especially on a cruise stop.
