The first route will sail from Puerto Vallarta to Mazatlan
Grupo Vidanta recently presented the exclusive itinerary for its brand-new cruise line. This Latin American company, which specializes in vacation experiences and services, will provide a new cruise service across the Pacific, on the Mexican west coast.
On April 14, Vidanta Elegant will be the first vessel to inaugurate the main route, from Puerto Vallarta to Mazatlán—where travelers could later explore other locations such as the jungle and Stone Island.
The cruise offered by the Mexican company will last three days and two nights for the exclusive preview route.
The announcement was made on Monday, and Grupo Vidanta became the first Mexican business to own a luxury cruise line. They expect to replicate their popular and award-winning resort experience over the Pacific.
The Mexican company already owns six resort hotels in Nuevo Vallarta, Riviera Maya, Los Cabos, Acapulco, Puerto Peñasco y Puerto Vallarta. Their touristic services also include restaurants, events, parks, tours, and now cruises.
Iván Chávez, Vidanta’s vice president, explained more about their expansion: “We are not only becoming the first Mexican corporation to operate both on land and sea within the national territory, but we are also offering —directly and indirectly— new job positions that will benefit many communities on the Mexican Pacific coast, and we are positioning our country as a world-class tourist destination”.
Ship Facilities
Vidanta Elegant, purchased by Grupo Vidanta in 2019, can host up to 295 guests, it has 149 cabins and suites. The ship was rebuilt —it was originally built in 1990 in Valencia, Spain— and used to host up to 550 passengers.
Now, it offers large outdoor spaces, twice as much as the average cruise in the industry, becoming also the first cruise line with COVID protocol considered for its installations. It incorporates ventilation systems with PYURE filtration technology to eradicate 99.9% of viruses in the air.
The ship has 13 restaurants and bars, as well as a gym, a fitness center, a spa, and a deluxe entertainment lounge for live concerts. The details of all the services they will offer haven’t been specified yet, but they have shared some information in advance: it will include jazz and Latin American concerts, dancing and cooking classes.
On their website and social media platforms, Grupo Vidanta showcases the main features of their cruises and allows tourists to take a glance at the luxurious experience they are offering. Elegant restaurants, a large outdoor pool, and stylish common areas are part of the basic amenities
A Mexican Experience
The luxury sailing experience will highlight Mexican culture, including visits to exclusive destinations, unique exterior views, and beautiful starry nights on the Pacific Ocean.
Iván Chávez also insisted on their sense of responsibility to their country: “We reiterate the commitment that we have as Grupo Vidanta with the integral development of Mexico, for which we will continue working and inspiring generations, and revolutionizing the tourism industry”. The company promises to help boost the country's economy.
Grupo Vidanta’s cruise line has been planning its operations from before the COVID-19 and it’s finally happening. This project is expected to counteract the damage that the pandemic caused to the industry.
Other international cruise companies, such as the Norwegian Star, the Royal Caribbean and the Majestic Princess, have been offering sea routes along the Mexican pacific coast, but Grupo Vidanta has been the first Mexican company to offer this service on their own land.
And the expectations are high: Grupo Vidanta has been offering services for the past 47 years and focusing on creating unique and exclusive vacations experiences and has won several awards in entertainment and hospitality.
In a few months, travelers from all over the world will be able to experience Vidanta’s cruise service and enjoy its installations and the beautiful landscapes that the Mexican west coast has to offer.

Don't waste your time with this company. No booking info available and they just say to call them. It's for members only and not even any info on how to become a member.

I suppose it fits with the Mexican experience to not have any info on how to actually book!
