Montenegro Drops All Entry Restrictions
Montenegro has become the latest country worldwide to drop all COVID-19 travel restrictions. Travelers will no longer need to show proof of vaccination or present a negative COVID-19 test upon arrival.
The Director of Montenegro's Public Health Institute, Igor Galic, said during a press conference that the health situation “has evolved favorably.” The current infection rate is 114 infections per 100,000 habitants.

Montenegro will now join a growing list of nations to scrap all COVID-19 entry requirements:

Montenegro's New Travel Rules
Travelers entering Montenegro will no longer require the following:
- Proof of vaccination
- Pre-flight tests
- Tests on arrival
- No quarantines
- Zero banned countries
- No passenger locator form
Travel restrictions ended yesterday, March 10, 2022.

The Current Internal COVID-19 Rules In Montenegro
Montenegro has also dropped lots of its internal COVID-19 restrictions. The nation will no longer require vaccine passports or testing to enter cinemas, museums, restaurants, bars, galleries, hotels, theaters, and gyms.
The Director of Montenegro’s Public Health Institute said: “Possession of the certificate is no longer mandatory for staying in catering facilities, sports events, attending cultural events, children’s playrooms, facilities that organize games of chance, fitness centers, and gyms.”

The government is increasing the number of visitors allowed to enter open-air events from 50 to 100. All sports and entertainment events can take place, but they must be under the 100 person threshold.
However, despite a widespread decrease in travel restrictions, Montenegro will maintain its mask mandate in interior facilities. The government says masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces throughout the country, including bars, restaurants, and hotels.
The government also mandated masks in outdoor spaces where travelers can’t maintain a distance of 2 meters. Montenegro’s government may issue fines between 100 and 2000 Euros for anyone caught breaking the rules.
There are no internal travel restrictions within Montenegro; travelers are free to travel anywhere in the country.

The Current COVID-19 Situation In Montenegro
Montenegro is currently witnessing very low COVID-19 cases. The current 7-day case average is only 97, a significant decrease from 2,279 in January. Since the pandemic began, the nation has recorded 2,692 deaths with 231,000 cases. Montenegro has currently fully vaccinated 46% of its entire population.
The New Nations Without Travel Restrictions
Hungary

Hungary scrapped all COVID-19 travel restrictions this week. Travelers no longer need to show proof of vaccination, tests, and passenger locator forms. The government published decree No.77 of 2022, which would abolish all COVID-19 mandates imposed by the government since March 2002.
Now travelers can enter Hungary—regardless of their nationality—via car, plane, train, and water without presenting additional documentation, such as a passenger locator form.
Ireland

Ireland scrapped all travel restrictions last week; this made them the 8th country worldwide to remove all travel restrictions. Travelers no longer need to show proof of vaccination, COVID-19 testing, or fill in a passenger locator form before arrival.
With COVID-19 cases low and vaccination rates high, Ireland wanted to make travel into Ireland easier for Ukrainian refugees. Ireland’s Tánaiste Leo Varadkar said: “You will no longer need a Covid Pass to enter Ireland, but you will still need it to get into many other EU countries. Be sure to get your booster or 3rd dose if you plan to travel abroad this summer.”
Romania

Romania removed all travel restrictions this week. Dan Cărbunaru, a government spokesman, holding valid Covid documentation upon crossing the state border will no longer be a requirement for foreign visitors, including American tourists.
As a result, all travelers can enter Romania without proof of vaccination, pre-flight tests, and quarantine.
