The Government of Nepal has officially announced that the country is reopening for tourism.
According to a press release on the Department of Immigration, Nepal will allow tourists to arrive by air and that tourist visa services have resumed.
“Issuance of tourist entry visa from the Nepali diplomatic missions abroad have resumed” the statement reads.
Below we have compiled a guide with everything travelers need to know about visiting Nepal and the entry requirements needed.
Which countries are allowed to travel to Nepal?
According to the document all countries under regular visa rules will be allowed to enter Nepal.
All tourists must first apply for a visa from a Nepalese embassy/mission or consulate in their home countries before traveling.
Does Nepal Require a Negative Covid-19 PCR test?
Travelers must present proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken no longer than 72 hours before departure.
Does Nepal require a quarantine or self-isolation upon arrival?
All travelers must quarantine for seven days upon arrival at a hotel. Travelers will also be tested again on day 5 before being released from quarantine on day 7.
Will Trekking and Climbing Resume?
Climbing and trekking has resumed for all travelers that have obtained the proper permits.
The Department of Tourism has prepared the necessary guidelines for climbers and trekkers who plan to visit Nepal. “DoT will also issue Standard Operating Procedures for agencies to run autumn climbing and trekking activities in the autumn season,” Spokesperson Meera Achary said.
Travel Insurance
All tourists must have travel insurance that covers COVID-19 with at least US $5000 in coverage according to the Kathmandu Post.

Is there any list of hotels where the tourists are required to stay ? or we can stay in any accommodation and even opt for airbnb ?

The trouble is, the mandatory ONLINE application system on the Nepal US website is completely dysfunctional.. Impossible to actually apply successfully. Alas typical of Nepal (after 30 years of visiting, still chronically inefficient!

Ohh good to know. BECAUSE Nepali embassy is very far from my home which is very Costly . I had to ride a plane going there. So another expenses for me. Thank you for your response.
