Southwest Airlines Adds 19 New Travel Routes for 2021

Southwest Airlines has announced 19 new travel routes for the spring and summer of 2021.

The expansion will see the addition of two new airports in the Southwest network, and enhanced services for Long Beach and Florida. The airline will also be adding Cancun as a third destination in Mexico, while adding two winter getaways in Colorado.

Despite an uneventful year for US airlines and the industry as a whole, Southwest Airlines is orientated with enthusiasm for the year ahead. 

With their sights on expansion and growth, Southwest Airlines recently announced their spring and summer schedules, adding 19 new travel routes and two new airports to their network. 

Revisiting their roots, the airlines will once again resume service at George Bush Intercontinental in Houston, Texas.

Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International Airport in Jackson, Mississippi is the second location which will be joining the carrier’s network in 2021.

Houston (Bush) Airport: Five Destinations

Southwest Airlines will return to service at George Bush Intercontinental in Houston in April 2021, nearly 50 years after it first launched operations at the location. 

The Houston airport will see the following five travel routes with non-stop destinations:

– Chicago (Midway): 2 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $79

– Dallas (Love Field): 6 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $29

– Denver: 3 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $79

– Nashville: 3 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $69

– New Orleans: 4 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $29

Jackson Mississippi Airport: Three Destinations

Southwest Airlines will begin services in June 2021 in Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers Airport in Jackson Mississippi, offering the following three non-stop routes:

– Atlanta: 3 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $49

– Baltimore/Washington: 1 flight each way daily, with one way fare as low as $79

– Houston (Hobby): 3 flights each way daily, with one way fare as low as $49

Expansion in Long Beach

Southwest will also be looking to add travel routes for Long Beach. 

The following new non-stop routes have been added for Long Beach:

– Houston (Hobby): 1 flight each way daily from March 11- April 11, then 2 flights each way, with one way fare as low as $69

– Chicago (Midway): 1 flight each way daily from March 11- April 11, then 2 flights each way, with one way fare as low as $69

– St Louis: 1 flight each way daily, with one way fare as low as $89

– Reno: 1 flight each way daily, with one way fare as low as $39

– Dallas (Love Field): 1 flight each way daily, with one way fare as low as $69

New Flights for Florida

Beginning March 11, 2021, Southwest will provide two daily non-stop routes between Miami and Nashville for tickets starting at $79 one way, and twice daily service between Miami and Denver for $89 one way.

Effective March 13, 2021, the airlines will provide services on Saturdays for Sarasota/Bradenton to Columbus, Indianapolis, and Pittsburgh.

New International Routes and Mountain Escapes

Southwest will be adding Cancun as a destination, offering once daily non-stop service between Phoenix and Cancun starting March 11, 2021.

From December 19, 2020 to April 5, 2021, the airlines will be offering services to two winter destinations in Colorado.

These will include three daily round trip flights between Denver and Steamboat Springs (Hayden) and between Denver and Montrose (Telluride).

On Saturdays and Sundays, one round trip route will be available between Dallas (Love Field) and both Montrose (Telluride) and Steamboat Springs (Hayden).
