The British multinational hospitality company IHG Hotels & Resorts recently announced through a press release a new luxury resort in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. The company recently acquired a property that will open its doors in early 2024 and will be part of the urban boutique brand Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. It will become their first all-inclusive resort in the country.
The Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort, Spa & Nature Park opened originally in 2008 and will now be renovated and refreshed—along with the resort’s owner, Sunset World, and operator, Playa Hotels & Resorts— to adapt to the brand’s standards and concepts.
Mike DeFrino, Kimpton CEO, said: “This development is a testament to Kimpton’s continued growth and broad resonance.” DeFrino added: “We couldn’t have found better partners than Sunset World and Playa Hotels & Resorts to bring our first all-inclusive resort to life, and believe our special brand of boutique hospitality will translate perfectly in this renowned part of Mexico.”
The environmentally conscious resort will have an interior renovation of its 255 rooms, suites, and villas. Its name is related to the three rivers that cross the Tres Ríos Nature Park’s 326 acres, also part of the resort experience.
Travelers visiting the new Riviera Maya resort will be able to enjoy the fascinating architecture, the private beach, the five pools, the culinary experiences, and other amenities, and also truly connect with local nature since they will also be able to visit the 10 nearby cenotes, and even discover animals and plants species at the tropical forest.

The spectacular all-inclusive resort is located at a very practical destination in Playa del Carmen, near Cancun in Mexico. The Kimpton Hacienda Tres Ríos Resort has a private beach with stunning grounds that will offer multiple activities for all types of guests and for all family members.
Fernando Mulet, Executive Vice President and Chief Investment Officer of Playa Hotels & Resorts, said: “With Kimpton’s vision and our proven execution, this new all-inclusive high-end boutique brand is a welcomed addition to our portfolio of resorts. We are equally grateful for the confidence of Sunset World in allowing us to reposition and manage their environmentally responsible luxury resort.”

More Resorts In The Mexican Caribbean
International companies are making large investments in the Mexican Caribbean because top destinations like Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum have gained popularity and offer travelers fantastic vacation experiences. The natural resources as well as the local environment have created the perfect ecosystem for hotels and, especially, resorts.
This year, new resorts, like the luxurious Waldorf Astoria Cancun, the Wyndham Grand Cancun All Inclusive resort, The Riu Palace Kukulkan, and the Royalton Splash Riviera Cancun will open for guests before 2023.
The Riviera Maya has many resort options for all kinds of travelers, from adult-only experiences to all-included resorts with parks and special entertainment for children.
