Before your next two-week European itinerary is set in stone, and you've booked flights all over the place, hold that thought: there might be a better, far more convenient way to plan a multi-country trip across the Old Continent in 2026 that won't involve tiring yourself out going from plane to plane.
Following in the rail tracks of the recently announced Paris to Amalfi luxury train, and the overnight service from Switzerland to Scandinavia, there's a brand new train route launching next spring that looks set to connect 3 of Europe's most incredible capital cities.
We're talking beautiful medieval landmarks, vibrant cultural landscapes, epic nightlife scenes, and Old World charm galore:

From Prague Via Berlin To Copenhagen
Starting in May 1, 2026, Czech Railways (ČD), Deutsche Bahn (DB), and Danish State Railways (DSB) will join forces to (finally) launch a direct train connecting their respective capitals: Prague in Czechia, Berlin in Germany, and Copenhagen in Denmark.
The project has been hailed as a benchmark for train travel by none other than the European Commission, who is actively pushing for more rail alternatives to flying, as part of their eco-friendly policies.

Up until now, out of the 3, only Prague and Berlin have enjoyed direct links to each other: getting from Berlin to Copenhagen, passengers would have to systematically change in Hamburg, whereas those coming all the way from Prague, and headed to the Nordic capital, would switch twice.
Needless to say, the new project will significantly smoothen travel between these 3 key European cities, that are sure to feature on the bucket lists of millions, and reduce the need for airport usage.
7 Hours From Czechia To Denmark
More on the route itself, the railway triad will be deployed ČD’s own ComfortJet trains, known to travel up to 140 mph, and accommodate up to 555 people. On top of that, a seasonal night train would be added to widen the range of options on this route.

Two daily return services is the initial frequency, and journey times will average 11 hours going from Prague to Copenhagen (potentially on the sleeper train), and 7 hours from Berlin to Copenhagen.
It might sound like a lot, but once you realize night trains in Europe cut costs and save time, it stops feeling far-fetched. You go to sleep in one country, wake up in another, and fold both your hotel and transport into a single ticket. Easy as that.
Plus, none of the long commutes from city to airport, snaking lines at security, and that whole luggage limit mess. Usually, yu can carry as much luggage as you want on a train (within reason), and not pay extra for it.

What To Expect From The Train Journey
The new line will also make use of the Berlin-Hamburg line renovations, and as reported by other media news outlets, a stop in Dresden, between Prague and Berlin, and Hamburg, between Berlin and Copenhagen, are planned.
Onboard the train, passengers will be free to access a dining car, adjustable seating to make the long journey as comfortable as possible, and even a cinema!
If you're planning on traveling from Prague to Copenhagen, however, we'd strongly encourage you book First Class, and don't worry about skyrocketing prices: there are 99 seats reserved for the top-tier category, so it's not that exclusive and hors-de-prix.

Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but based on similar trains launched recently, standard seating starts from around $75 for the longest stretch, while sleeping cabins in First Class average $270+.
Pricey, we know, but remember what we said about combining accommodation and travel into a single expense?

There is already a direct service from Berlin to Copenhagen, it just does not go to Copenhagen Central station, it is the SJ Euronight Service from Berlin to Stockholm, this train stops at Copenhagen Airport.
