And why exactly would I go to Oman for 7 days of which I have to self-isolate for 7? What utter nonsense.

Just FYI this has changed this week to all visitors required to quarantine for 7 days.

The list of countries allowed in raised the question with the level of analysis done. Several countries on the list have high caseloads and a few who are not on the list have a low to normal case load and low death rate. Nonetheless many countries are on lockdown or stay home order now.
Most countries including US citizens in pre-pandemic period had to apply an E visa to visit Oman. Now the requirement has changed during the pandemic to reopen for tourism. Would it be different once it is post-pandemic period...
If anyone fancy wearing a tracking bracelet like a person on house arrest then this may be a dream holiday destination.
