The second wave of the pandemic is causing travel chaos worldwide for Americans as countries change entry requirements with little to no warning at all. There are now only 7 countries remaining that Americans can travel to for tourism without requiring a PCR test or quarantine.

List of Countries Without Travel Restrictions Shrinks
The list of countries open for American tourists without travel restrictions continues to shrink in recent weeks.
Staring December 30th, Americans will no longer be able to enter Brazil without travel restrictions as the country added a testing requirement. All travelers headed to Brazil must present proof of a negative COVID-19 test no older than 72 hours before arrival.

As of December 28th, Turkey also announced that all travelers arriving in the country will now be required to present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test before arrival.
Travelers that arrive without proof of the test will face a mandatory state ordered quarantine.

Countries Still Open To American Tourists Without Restrictions
There are still countries open to American tourists that do not require a covid test or quarantine period. While some of the destinations are far-flung oddballs, a few just happen to be some of Americans favorite holiday destinations.

For Americans looking to stay close, Mexico is still open for U.S. citizens and does not require proof of a negative COVID-19 test or have any quarantines. However Americans must fill out a health declaration form before arrival.
Additionally Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic are both open and also do not require testing or quarantines.
While there are no mandatory testing or quarantines, there are still some things that travelers need to know. In Costa Rica, beaches will close at 2:30pm daily for all of January and in the Dominican Republic travelers may be selected for a random COVID-19 breath test upon arrival.

For The More Adventurous American Tourist
For U.S. citizens willing to travel overseas there are also a few countries accepting American tourists without restrictions.
Countries including North Macedonia, Tanzania and Albania are all open for Americans and do not require testing or quarantines.

Travel In 2021 Will Still Have Restrictions
With vaccines slowly rolling out around the world, many travelers are hopeful of things beginning to return to normal in 2021. Although vaccines will help open borders and could help ease testing restrictions, expect to see countries add new requirements that require travelers to show proof of vaccinations.
The first half of 2021 is likely to remain the same as it is now with countries still enforcing strict entry requirements and lockdowns continuing right through the winter.

Can you start updating this article again please, or create a similar one where testing/vaccine is not required (Mexico, Netherlands) please?
Thank you for all the helpful info your site post. It has been a lifesaver during this pandemic.

Just got back from Mexico. They are doing very well in the pandemic with hand sanitizer everywhere, masks being used and temperature checks. Felt safer there than in the US.

Tanzania is very tricky. Although it may seem that the country does not require you to have a test, there are very few airlines flying to Tanzania, those airlines are requiring tests to board.

Worth noting too that North Macedonia has instituted a UK passport ban now as well and Albania has asked people who have been in the UK recently to quarantine for two weeks upon arrival. We discovered this on Tuesday when we had been planning to cross into Albania on Wednesday (I'm American, my partner is UK).
