With temperatures rising as we finally bid farewell to the darker winter months, you're probably already wondering whether now's time to plan your next international trip – well, take it from us: there's no better season to travel than summer.

It's perfect weather, and if you're keen on escaping the ordinary and embarking on a sun-drenched adventure, what better place to go than the culturally-charged Old Continent?

Europe is trending with travelers, especially now that nonstop flights are launching to four of its sunniest, most incredible destinations:

Mallorca, Spain

Arguably the most beautiful historical island in Spain, Mallorca is a subtropical paradise surrounded by the Mediterranean.

It is packed with historic cities where the most monumental buildings are not skyscrapers but medieval churches and gorgeous nature spots.

It is also home to some of Europe's most spectacular beaches, with sands that are Caribbean-white and waters translucent, protected reserves, and scenic hikes, making it the ideal spot for both culture buffs and nature enthusiasts.

If Mallorca's combination of ancient heritage and turquoise coast sounds appealing, you'll be thrilled to learn that United Airlines is bringing back its Newark-Palma flights on May 25.

These flights will link the New Jersey hub to the Spanish island's capital during the season's warmest period.

Three weekly flights are scheduled every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, and service is set to continue through September 25, comprising late spring, all of summer, and early spring.

Based on the average airfares seen on United's website, one-way flights can start from $533.

Nice, France

The jewel of Southern France, Nice, has an elongated boardwalk unfolding along a sea of the brightest blue. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town is easily recognized for its maze of narrow, ocher-colored buildings and Baroque churches.

Nice is outpacing Paris in growth.

Other than boasting amazing temperatures and a distinct Southern European, verging-on-Italian character, it offers access to Côte d'Azur, a stretch of coast extending from Menton all the way to iconic Monaco, Cannes and Saint-Tropez.

If an earlier escapade to the French Riviera is on the cards for you, perhaps you should know United Airlines is resuming their daily seasonal flights from Newark to Nice two months in advance: instead of summer, the route is opening as early as March 30.

This will help Côte d'Azur-bound travelers reach their final destination without layovers in intermediate points, from $594 one-way.

Additionally, from May 6, it's American Airlines' turn to green light service from Philadelphia to Nice.

Naples, Italy

Naples is Italy's diamond in the rough, a sprawling metropolis sandwiched between a menacing Vesuvius and an azure Tyrrhenian Sea that may not have Florence's overpolished Renaissance charm nor Venice's romanticism, but one that certainly does not lack character.

Some call it underdeveloped, we call it an underrated gem that's an Italian stronghold first and foremost, as opposed to a mere playground for clueless Instagrammers and day-trippers; if anything, the fact that it is the birthplace of pizza and the official gateway to the Amalfi Coast should be encouraging enough.

More and more tourists are being drawn to Naples' 2,000-year-old collection of architectural wonders and world-class museums, and it's no wonder Delta is adding nonstop flights from New York (JFK) to Naples International Airport on May 23, set to operate daily.

Furthermore, United is starting earlier even, carrying passengers from Newark to the City of Five Hundred Domes starting April 5.

According to Google Flights, the cheapest outbound flight from the U.S. to Naples is a reasonable $410.

Malaga, Spain

The capital of Spain's marvellous Costa do Sol, the aptly-named Sunny Coast, and located in the continent's warmest region, Malaga is Barcelona's biggest rival right now, with a social scene that rivals Sitges', beaches that put Costa Brava's to shame, and a cultural tapestry as rich as Catalonia's.

From an ancient Greco-Roman theater, to a Muslim-built medieval fortress, to the towering high-rises and luxurious condominiums that dominate La Malagueta Beach, this is one of the most diverse city breaks in Spain, offering both sun and History.

Following a successful launch last year, United is preparing to increase frequency significantly on its Newark-originating Malaga flights once they relaunch on May 2. From 52, it's bumping up to 150 flights this year, not to mention it's kickstarting a month earlier than 2023.

Flights will remain operational until September 25. Malaga now joins a select list of Spanish destinations that host nonstop flights from the United States for most of the year, if not year-round, like tried-and-true Barcelona, national capital Madrid, aforementioned Mallorca, and more recently, the Canary Islands.
