It’s been a busy week for Spirit Airlines, as the bright yellow airline looks set to launch as many as 31 new routes, including both domestic and international flights. In doing so, the airline looks to be in the perfect position to take advantage of the renewed desire to travel amongst Americans, with both international and domestic travel numbers seeing a boost this month after the easing of restrictions and addition of new routes by other airlines in the country.
From warm weather travel options to popular vacation destinations, Spirit’s new routes have an option for every traveler – and just in time for both the Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year holidays. Here’s a look at the new routes Spirit Airlines is set to launch.
New International Flights Launched – What Travelers Should Know
Whilst summer may have been a false dawn due to the Delta variant, it’s safe to say that this winter season is set to be a bumper, travel-packed season for American travelers. The decision to ease travel and entry restrictions by the US has opened the floodgates, with American travelers flocking overseas and foreign travelers heading in the other direction. With 31 new routes set to launch, the chance of travelers coming and going on a Spirit flight is set to increase.
From Miami airport, Spirit launched two new flights to Colombia on November 17th, with the airline now flying to Barranquilla (BAQ) and Cali (CLO) airports in the country. Colombia isn’t the only country to receive a Spirit flight from Miami, with flights to San Pedro Sula (SAP) in Honduras and San Juan (SJU) in Puerto Rico also scheduled to begin this week, giving travelers even more international options.
Spirit’s New Domestic Flights – Information For Travelers
As well as international flights, Spirit has launched several new domestic flights. Miami is set to receive the bulk of the new routes; as well as the four international routes, Miami is also seeing new routes launched to the following destinations:
Boston,Chicago O’Hare, Cleveland, Dallas/Fort Worth, Denver, Detroit, Hartford, Houston, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, New York LaGuardia, Orlando, Philadelphia and Raleigh-Durham.
The inclusion of these routes means that Spirit will now have a total of 27 routes in operation from Miami.
Also set to see new routes is Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, with Spirit set to launch four flights a week to Fort Myers and three flights a week to Tampa from the airport. The same destinations and frequencies are also set to begin at Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, which could see Florida become even more of a popular destination for travelers looking to soak up some winter sun. Spirit’s new route from LaGuardia to Phoenix could also prove popular for the same reasons.
Also seeing their levels of connectivity increase at the hands of Spirit are Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport (MKE) and St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) in the Midwest. Departing from Milwaulkee will be flights to Fort Lauderdale (FLL), Fort Myers (RSW), Phoenix (PHX), and Tampa (TPA), whilst St. Louis will host flights to Fort Myers, Phoenix and Tampa. Each of these flights are set to run daily.
All signs are pointing to a bumper winter season of travel, with confidence in travel seemingly at a new high for the pandemic and more and more options becoming available for travelers. Whilst 2020’s travel numbers will be easily beaten, only time will tell if travel will surpass its 2019 levels.
