There are three regions in the Dominican Republic that are growing in popularity as more hotels and resorts are being built to accommodate the growing demand for this gorgeous Caribbean country.
In the Northeastern region, Miches and Samaná have new projects underway. Companies are taking notice of the growing interest surrounding the region, and Hodelpa, one of the largest hospitality groups in the Dominican Republic, recently announced they will be building a massive resort in Samana.
To the North, in Punta Bergantín and Puerto Plata, there are exciting developments in process, including tourist homes, cultural centers, and golf courses.
And, on the Southwestern coast, travelers are enjoying Cabo Rojo and Pedernales, where companies like Wyndham are building properties in this up-and-coming resort hotspot.
The Dominican Republic has been experiencing a tourism boom, and Americans love it. During Easter, over 180,000 visitors arrived, hotel occupancy reached 95%, and the government expects even more travelers soon.
In order to sustain demand, local authorities and hospitality companies are expanding services and properties and adding new and interesting tourism experiences in great destinations like Miches, Puerto Plata, and Cabo Rojo.

The New Trendy Destinations In The Dominican Republic
Those looking for off-the-beaten-path experiences or just getting to know different places in the Dominican Republic will have a wonderful vacation experience at the new trendy hotel zones in this country.
Many Americans are already flocking to Miches, Puerto Plata, and Cabo Rojo as the tourist and cultural offer is very attractive and a nice change of pace from Punta Cana.
Northeast Coast: Miches
Not too far from Punta Cana, in Miches, more hotel chains are seeing major opportunity for investment as the region grows in popularity.
One of the country’s leading hospitality firms, Grupo Puntacana, recently announced an ambitious plan for a new resort with 500 rooms, which is expected to open by the end of the year.
According to David Llibre, president of the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic, 4 new hotels will open in Miches, and over 2,000 new rooms will be available for travelers in the near future.
In Miches, travelers can taste the delicious local food, visit amazing beaches like Playa Esmeralda, climb the Redonda mountain, and visit Los Haitises National Park.
Not too far from Miches, another destination is shining: Samaná. A brand new Wyndham all-inclusive resort will open soon here, and Hodelpa also recently announced the opening of a new property with 750 in this resort town.
North Coast: Puerto Plata
Travelers who love adventure and water sports will have a great time in Puerto Plata as this destination offers great outdoor activities, from snorkeling to trekking to surfing to mountain biking.
Puerto Plata has two new ports that are being optimized and transformed to provide visitors with great entertainment upon arrival and multiple all-inclusive resorts and hotels for travelers.
In Punta Bergantín, authorities and investors have multiple impressive tourism projects.
The first Planet Hollywood will open its doors in 2024 here, and the construction of a large hospitality project, including hotels, golf courses, and cultural experiences, is under development.
Even Vin Diesel’s production company, One Race Films, Vin Diesel, will have a film studio here.
This destination is known for its stunning tropical nature, and travelers can explore its rainforest, admire the Damajagua waterfalls, and visit historic museums to learn more about local culture.
Southwestern Coast: Cabo Rojo-Pedernales
The first cruise port to come to the region is under construction in Cabo Rojo, and large cruise companies like Norwegian Cruise Line are already offering itineraries to this budding destination.
By the end of this year, cruises will begin to stop at this port, and more travelers will explore its beautiful beaches and national parks.
This southern destination is becoming an eco-friendly destination for travelers as more sustainable projects, including multiple international hotel chains, are investing in this area.
