To celebrate International Women’s Day coming on March 8th, here's our comprehensive list of the top 10 destinations for solo female travelers in 2024.
In collaboration with our accomplished female travel writers, we embarked on a research journey to identify the most suitable destinations for solo female travelers. This involved surveying our dedicated female readership and incorporating insights from leading safety reports. The result is a curated list that empowers women to explore the world.
Tulum
Tulum is one of the best destinations in Mexico for solo travelers. It is a small town with a relaxed atmosphere which means it’s an easy place to meet new people and form new friendships if you’re looking for company.
If you want to enrich your soul then there are few better places to be. You can enjoy yoga at dawn, massage treatments on the beach, explore boho shops and relax in trendy bars.
Some of the highlights of a trip to Tulum include exploring the town’s Mayan ruins, swimming in a breathtakingly beautiful cenote, and of course relaxing on the beach. The nightlife here is incredible and you won’t struggle to find welcoming spots to party the night away.
Split
Traveling solo in Croatia?
Split is perfect for solo travelers seeking a down-to-earth ambiance and is a better spot than the much more well-known and crowded Dubrovnik.
Split is a coastal city that is popular for solo travelers hoping to enjoy sailing, surfing and other adrenaline-filled sports. It’s also a great place to meet other travelers who share these interests.
If you’re a night owl then Split is a great spot as it turns into a party city at night and its beautiful ancient alleyways are filled with outdoor bars after hours.
Cultural highlights of a visit to Split include exploring the labyrinth of its Old Town, visiting the beautiful 15th century Town hall in Narodni trgm, and of course spending time on the rock and sand beaches. Znjan Beach is the largest of these and is loaded with amenities.
Tokyo

Tokyo is a city where ancient temples sit harmoniously alongside futuristic megastructures.

Reykjavik

Phuket
Off the west coast of Thailand is Phuket. This is a city that’s incredibly popular with travelers and backpackers, so you’re sure to meet like-minded travelers here.

Mexico City offers warm hospitality, vibrant street art, and a rich nightlife scene. It’s a great place to explore on foot and see where the mood takes you. Of course, there are areas in Mexico City that you should avoid as a solo female, but this is true of most cities.
Dubai
Dubai is a modern and rapidly developing city with a well-deserved reputation for luxury. luxury shopping, ultramodern architecture, and lively nightlife options mean that solo travelers will never be bored here.
