Cruising is back with a bang, and right now is one of the best times to book a cruise for 2024.
But with so many different cruise lines out there, how do you know which one you should choose?
A surefire way to make any kind of travel decision-making easier is to lean on the experience and opinions of your fellow travelers.
Luckily, there’s a way you can do that with choosing a cruise line, thanks to the release of the 2024 Member Choice Awards from Cruisline.com.
Each year, this cruising community collates reviews from its members who took a cruise in the previous 12 months to determine which companies are getting things right and delivering unforgettable cruise experiences.
Here’s a look at which cruise lines made the top 5 in the Best Mainstream Cruise Line category:
5. Disney Cruise Line
Even if we pretend not to, everyone enjoys a little slice of Disney magic from time to time.
For those who are really keen, a Disney cruise is one of the best ways to indulge your passion.
Covering all the major destinations you would expect, Disney also has a cruise that travels around southeast Asia starting out of Singapore.
Like many of its competitors, Disney Cruise Line is adding new destinations all the time.
4. Holland America Line
Offering more than 500 different cruises a year, Holland America can take you to practically any part of the world you want to see including South America, Asia, and even Australia and New Zealand.
This company also just claimed the Best Alaska Cruise prize, as voted for by the readers of USA Today.
3. Carnival Cruise Lines
Fresh from adding a 27th ship to its fleet, Carnival came up in third spot in these awards, showcasing that it’s a popular choice among travelers.
The newest ship is the Carnival Firenze, which will be sailing from Long Beach in California around to Mexico, stopping off at some epic destinations, including Catalina Island, Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan, and Puerto Vallarta.
Carnival even offers some transpacific options, including a 22-day voyage from Seattle all the way down to Sydney in Australia, taking in unmissable spots such as Hawaii and French Polynesia along the way.
2. Celebrity Cruises
As well as offering the Caribbean and Mexican cruises you might expect, Celebrity Cruises is also offering tours of scenic locations such as Alaska and the Norwegian fjords.
As well as that, it is even offering you a chance to get in on one of the top trending destinations of 2024 with its new 12-night itinerary around Japan.
The deals are hot with Celebrity right now, as it recently announced offers, including a $200 onboard credit and 75% off a second guest on sailings from now until April 2026.
It is also running some shorter three and four-night cruises for those seeking a quick recharge in the Caribbean.
Celebrity might be the best choice for foodies as it also won the best food and dining award.
1. Royal Caribbean
A consistent winner in these kinds of awards, Royal Caribbean remains the go-to choice for American cruisers.
The company kicked off 2024 with the maiden voyage of its latest and greatest ship the Icon of the Seas, which includes a suspended infinity pool, more than 40 bars and restaurants, and 8 separate neighborhoods – each of which claims to be a destination in its own right.
Royal Caribbean also picked up the Best Cruise Line for Service and Staff and Best Cruise Line for Onboard Activities prizes in these same awards.
It’s also one of three cruise lines in this list that don’t charge extra for solo travelers alongside Celebrity Cruises and Holland America – so there’s no excuse not to consider them if you don’t have a travel buddy.
And if you’re someone who enjoys the finer things and has the budget to match, then these awards also included a Best Luxury Cruise Line category – the top five went as follows:
1. Seabourn
2. Regent Seven Seas Cruises
3. Silversea Cruises
4. Compagnie Du Ponant Yacht Cruises
5. Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

I really don't understand how your list doesn't include Viking Cruise line!

Carnival ? I tried them once and it felt like they emptied the projects and the redneck trailer parks.
