Vaccines are speeding up, cases are going down and Americans are ready to get out and explore again this summer. TSA checkpoints screened a record breaking 10 million American passengers in 10 days over spring break showing a large pent up demand for travel. By summer, the majority of Americans will have been vaccinated and travel is expected to be in full swing. According to a recent CheapoAir report, these are the Top 10 Destinations Americans are planning to travel for summer 2021. 

10. Orlando, Florida

Home of Disney World Theme Park, Orlando will be a top choice for Americans this summer. Prior to the pandemic Orlando attracted around 60 million visitors per year who come for the warm climate, theme parks, shopping malls and golf courses.

9. Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

Fort Lauderdale is famous for its gorgeous beaches, arts, culture and events. Also known as the Venice of America and the yachting capital of the world, Fort Lauderdale offers endless activities.

8. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

Punta Cana is the Dominican Republic's most popular tourist destination, offering sun, sea and sand in abundance. Home to some of the most beautiful all-inclusive luxury resorts, Punta Cana remains a top destination for Americans.

7. Tampa, Florida

Tampa is well known for its major tourist attractions including Busch Gardens where families can enjoy the thrill of an amusement park and the adventure of a zoo all in one place.

Cancun still received over 10 million visitors in the last year and dominated international travel during the pandemic.

Sin City will once again be a top destination for Americans this summer as the lights, casinos, dining and entertainment in Las Vegas continue to attract millions of tourists. The city is already beginning to see a boom as pandemic fears subside.

Miami tops the list for top destinations for Americans this summer with its beautiful weather, gorgeous beaches, Latin culture, diverse cuisine and a vibrant nightlife. Expect busy beaches, attractions and a strong tourism recovery in this vacation hotspot over the summer.

Well, we have been in Honolulu since Feb 1 and I can attest to the exponential increase in visitors here! We are headed to Croatia and Italy come summer and fall. I am so curious about statistics relating to tourism rebound as well as the impact of pent-up demand on pricing for related food, lodging and transportation. We have now booked 6 apartments in 6 countries through early 2023 expecting prices will skyrocket.
