While most nations – around the world – still require vaccinated Americans to take a Covid test before – or on – their arrival, there are in fact a number of European Countries that do not.
There is no doubt that the travel world is starting to return to some normality – with things beginning to look like they were in pre-pandemic times.
However, there are still many countries worldwide that have a list of entry requirements that travelers need to meet in order to visit – with some nations still requiring visitors to take a Covid test, and even undergo quarantine. In Europe, however, traveling is certainly starting to look much more simple than it has done during the last few years – and some countries have even begun dropping all of their Covid-19 related entry requirements.
Let’s take a look at some of the most popular European destinations – for American travelers – that no longer require visitors to take a Covid test.
France
Having been the most visited country in Europe before the start of the global pandemic, France is now allowing those who have been fully vaccinated to enter without having to undertake Covid testing. It is important to note, however, that travelers – aged 18 and over – are required to have had a vaccine booster dose if they received their first set of vaccinations more than nine months ago. Otherwise they do not qualify as being fully vaccinated.
The United Kingdom
Since the 11 February, fully vaccinated Americans have been allowed to enter the United Kingdom without having to have taken a Covid test.
For those that have not received their vaccination against Covid-19 – and who are looking to visit England, Wales or Northern Ireland – however, will need to take two Covid-PCR tests. This includes taking a test before their departure, as well on day 2 after their arrival into these nations.
Unvaccinated travelers – who are wanting to enter Scotland – are required to show the results of a negative Covid test, which must have been taken no longer than 48 hours before departure.
Spain
Being one of Europe’s most popular tourist destinations, Spain is now allowing fully vaccinated travelers to enjoy all that its sun-kissed beaches, delectable cuisine and chilled vibes have to offer, without having to take a Covid test.
However, just as other countries are doing so, Spain will not recognise you as being fully vaccinated against Covid-19 if you had the final dose of your previous vaccination more than 270 days before your departure to the country.
Greece
American travelers – that have received their full vaccination dose – are now able to enter the beautiful island-country of Greece without having to undergo any Covid testing.
However, in order to be considered as fully vaccinated travelers are required to have taken a booster dose if their first round of vaccination took place more than nine months before their departure date.
Norway
Those that are looking to witness the magic of the northern lights can now do so by visiting Norway without having to take a Covid test – either before, or on arrival.
In fact, Norway has joined the likes of Switzerland in removing all of is Covid entry requirements – that have been in place for some time.
Sweden
Fully-vaccinated travelers that are looking to enjoy some Scandinavian culture – and sample the famous Köttbullar (Swedish meatballs) can now do so by entering Sweden without being required to take a Covid test.
However, the country – which has already ended all internal vaccine passports and mandates – is currently NOT allowing unvaccinated Americans to enter the country, with there being an entry ban until 31 March for those who have not received a full dose of vaccination.
