U.A.E Resumes Tourist Visas For Vaccinated Travelers

The United Arab Emirates will reopen its tourist visas on August 30th from all countries after 18 months of changing restrictions.

The decision will open up tourist visas from countries that the UAE previously banned. However, visitors from those countries will still need to take a negative PCR test.

The United Arab Emirates previously banned citizens from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Vietnam, Zambia, Congo, Uganda, Bangladesh, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Liberia, and Nigeria.

The New Entry Requirements

Travelers from every country in the world can apply for a U.A.E tourist visa from tomorrow. All passengers will have to take a mandatory rapid PCR test on arrival.

In addition, all travelers will have to register their vaccination status on the government’s official health app. Travelers that wish to receive the same benefits as fully vaccinated UAE residents and citizens can state their vaccination status via the Al Hosn Application or the ICA platform.

However, all unvaccinated travelers will still face the same restrictions as before.

All vaccination doses will have to have received approval from the World Health Organization. These include:

Pfizer/BioNTech
Moderna
Janssen
AstraZeneca
Covishield
Sinopharm
Sinovac

The Current Restrictions Inside The United Arab Emirates

Of course, with many countries around the world, such as the U.K, dropping all COVID-19 restrictions, it’s important to gauge the restrictions on the ground before traveling.

Here is a list of current restrictions inside the U.A.E for citizens, residents, and tourists

Unvaccinated people are forbidden from entering a federal government department unless they have received a negative PCR test result within 48 hours of arriving at the department
Live entertainment activities are allowed for a trial period, which started on June 6th
Hotels can be at 70 percent capacity and entertainment venues can be up to 50 percent capacity
Weddings can have up to 100 guests, and all bar staff and guests must be fully vaccinated
The government has restricted indoor gatherings at home or in hotels to 100 people
Face masks are mandatory in all public places and people need to stick to a two-meter distance from each other

As of August 26th, Abu Dhabi has introduced the following rules

The government has restricted access to many places unless you’re fully vaccinated and they’ve begun a green pass for vaccinated people
Abu Dhabi has increased capacity limits in gyms, shops, cafes, restaurants, malls, and theme parks to 80 percent
Up to 10 people can sit together in bars, cafes, and restaurants
The government has increased the capacity of live events to 60 percent

The COVID-19 Situation In The U.A.E

The United Arab Emirates certainly hasn’t been a COVID-free country throughout the pandemic. Although the country had low cases at the start, they reopened for tourists in July 2020 and COVID-19 has been prevalent in the country ever since.

That said, cases are at their lowest since the start of 2021 as the country records a 7-day daily average of 1,013 cases per day.

The United Arab Emirates also has one of the best vaccination rollouts worldwide. The U.A.E has fully vaccinated 75.9 percent of its residents and given one dose to 86.9 percent of its residents.

Therefore, the U.A.E has the highest total doses per 100 residents at 183.3.

The United Arab Emirates is one of the world’s most important travel hubs and airports.

The slow and steady drop in restrictions is another sign that the world might be opening up again after the frustration of the Delta variant which has stopped many nations from opening this summer.
