Whether you’re visiting Portland with your significant other or you live there, you might be looking for some new romantic things to do in this city. From where to have the perfect romantic dinner to some fun spots for a date, here are 7 romantic things to do in Portland.
1. Stroll Through A Sprawling Rose Garden
As the home of over 10,000 rose bushes, the International Rose Test Garden is the perfect place for a romantic stroll. The garden offers free admission and is open daily. Roses are also available for purchase at the nearby shop, which could make a great gift for your significant other!
2. Enjoy A Day At The Spa
Looking for a relaxing afternoon with your date? Look no further than Kiva Tea Cafe Spa. Located on 24th Avenue, this spa offers both a variety of treatments such as massages and facials as well as some revitalizing refreshments such as acai bowls and hot tea at their cafe. Better yet, they also offer a couples package. Their couples massage will allow you both to pick from any of the treatments available and relax in each other’s company! The spa requires a prior appointment, which can be made online. If you’re just looking to try some tea, however, the cafe is open Wednesday through Monday.
3. Catch A Drive-In Movie
If you’re willing to head a little bit outside of the city, the 99W drive-in theatre offers a great opportunity for a date night. Located about 30 minutes from downtown Portland, you can enjoy some old-fashioned charm while watching a film here. 99W is unique in not only being a drive-in movie theatre but also for being a historical locally owned business – it was opened by the family that operates it in the 1950s and has continued showing movies since! The theatre is set to open for its 69th season in mid-March.
4. Go On A Romantic Cruise
Enjoy a romantic cruise down the Willamette river by booking a tour with Portland Spirit Cruises and Events. This group offers a variety of tours both in Portland and nearby in the Columbia Gorge. In addition to their dinner cruise – perfect for watching the sunset – they also offer a sightseeing tour on the Willamette River as well as a brunch tour in the Columbia Gorge. This variety of options makes this a great option for all sorts of schedules and interests – for early birds, they even offer some breakfast options! While walk-on guests are allowed if space permits, you’ll likely want to make a reservation ahead of time to assure your spot.
5. Check Out The Cookie Dough Cafe
Looking for something fun and a little quirky to do with your significant other? Head over to The Cookie Dough Cafe to enjoy edible cookie dough. The cafe offers far more than just your traditional chocolate chip cookie dough too – check out flavors such as Mint Brownie Batter or Confetti Cake. They also offer some vegan and gluten-free options.
6. Bring Out Your Adventurous Side At Portland Rock Gym
Are you are your significant other fans of adventure? Or simply down to try something out of your comfort zone? Check out the Portland Rock Gym for a great opportunity for some no experience necessary adventure. Even if you don’t have any climbing skills, it can still be fun to learn or try it out with your partner – the gym offers day passes as well as intro to climbing classes.
7. Enjoy A Meal At Mucca Osteria
If you and your significant other are foodies, or you’re simply looking for a romantic dinner, you won’t want to miss enjoying a meal at Mucca Osteria. Located in downtown Portland, this restaurant offers some delicious Italian cuisine. It also features some beautiful decor – beautiful exposed brick walls and chandeliers will set the perfect mood for a romantic evening.
