Now that many countries in the European Union are reopening, Americans are looking forward to planning their summer adventures in Europe. When the travel floodgates fully reopen, Americans will be heading across the Atlantic. Many tourists will be spending some of that glorious time lounging on one of Europe’s stunning beaches. Read on to learn about the best beaches in Europe where Americans can visit this summer.
The Best Beaches in Europe
Dip Your Toes in the White Sand at Palombaggia, Corsica, France
Palombaggia is one of the most beautiful coastlines in Corsica. At first glance at the landscape, you may believe you are in the South Pacific, until that is, you see the evergreen greens along the shore. The bone-white sand of the beach is dotted with boulders, and the area is protected from swells by the curving arch of the shoreline, making it great for swimming. Palombaggia is a less crowded alternative to some of France’s more well-known beaches like Plage de l’Ecluse, Dinard.
Hike the Cliffs at Calanque d’en Vau, Cassis, France
This picturesque location is framed by dramatic cliffs, which offer outstanding views at the top. The inlet here is one of the deepest and most sheltered inlets, making it the perfect recreation location for kayaking, swimming and snorkeling. Besides the spectacular beaches, this area has some of the best hiking trails in the region.
Climb Ancient Stairs at Scala dei Turchi, Sicily
The ‘Stair of the Turks’ is a popular tourist destination in Sicily. The white limestone and marl cliff eroded over millions of years and formed a formation resembling stairs. A trip to this beach is worth it anytime of year just to view this natural wonder, the famous Turkish Steps. Near the stairs, there are facilities for sunbathing and dining.
See the Postcard Perfect Beaches of Positano
Located along the winding hills of the Amalfi Coast at Positano are four gorgeous beaches. Whether you choose a small beach like Laurito Beach, or the lively, cosmopolitan Marina Grande Beach, you are guaranteed to have the time of your life. If you would like exercise, visit Arienzo Beach, known as the 300 steps beach, which is the number of stairs you will need to descend to reach the sand. For a quiet, romantic experience, visit nearby Fornillo Beach a local favorite spot.
Experience the Nightlife at Nissi Bay Beach, Ayia Napa Cyprus
This beach on the gorgeous island of Cyprus is also a backdrop for exciting nightlife. Here you can spend sunny days lounging on the pale sand and swim in the pale blue water. When it is time to party the night away, head to Nissi Bay Beach Bar for cocktails and DJ music. Nissi Bay Beach is one of the best beaches in Europe.
Relax at Pristine Cape Drastis, Corfu Island, Greece
On the lovely island of Corfu lies the beautiful beach at Cape Drastis. On the water traveling to the Cape, visitors will see the unusual shape of the island’s cliffs. Hikers will love making their way along the stony path to a small, private cove and the spectacular view from the top of one of the cliffs. This pristine beach on the northwesternmost point of Corfu is less crowded than other beaches in the Greek Isles and is an optimal spot for swimming and sunbathing.
Snorkel the Clear Waters at Playa Sa Caleta, Ibiza, Spain
If you wish to sun yourself away from a tourist heavy beach location, head to this spot on the southern coast of Ibiza. This beach has stunning red cliffs that add a secluded atmosphere to the setting. The shallow clear water here make it a popular spot with swimmers and snorkelers. A seafood restaurant, Sa Caleta, is an eatery that is well-liked by locals and tourists.
Visit ‘Hawaii’- At St. Nicholas Island-Montenegro
This tiny island is one of the most beautiful in Europe. This island is known informally as Hawaii, due to the tropical blue water surrounding it. On St. Nicolas Island there are three large beaches and several smaller beaches. The best way to reach these beaches is by taxi boats from Budva. After your beach time, dine on a great seafood meal at Porto, or grab a pizza at Sambra.

So the US and a few other small countries will make the next EU "White List" update this week for tourism/non-essential travel. However Canada seems to have been left out ? Why ? We've got a lower case per 100k than the US and a very strong vaccination rate.

That’s all well and good USA can come to Europe but airlines are putting prices up to 1000 to 2000 dollars plus no direct flight changing planes twice with lay overs. They are not making it easy

Why do the titles say “open for vaccinated Americans” they are also opened for vaccinated Canadians also. I am a Canadian and currently vacationing in Spain. Only need QR code and pcr test. (I only have 1 dose only for now ). If you are vaccinated it’s even easier to get Into Spain.

Because 70-90% of our readers are American :) The rest are Canadians, Brits and a mix of the rest of the world. Also, we have titles that highlight US travelers are allowed, since they have been more locked out of countries than Canadians during the entire pandemic. Usually if Americans can go, Canadians can too :)
