Norwegian Cruise Line has stoked the fires of the recent travel resurgence further by announcing details of a huge sale, as well as opening up its largest ever bookable itinerary to travelers online. The announcement represents yet more good news for American travelers, following the recent easing of restrictions.
Cruises have been going ahead for several months now, after suffering through months of inaction at the hands of the CDC who all-but shut the industry down as a result of the pandemic. However, there are several restrictions in place in order to ensure that passengers are kept safe whilst on board. Here’s a look at Norwegian Cruise Line’s new sale, plus a look at some highlights of their updated, expanded itinerary.
Norwegian's Sale and Itinerary – Information For Travelers
The third largest cruise line in the world when ranking by passengers, Norwegian Cruise Line served almost 6 million passengers in 2018 – only behind fellow cruise giants Carnival and Royal Caribbean in first and second place respectively. Whilst passenger numbers have fallen dramatically as a result of the pandemic, the general easing of restrictions and fall in cases around the world means that the attitude for cruises could be set to rise – and just in time.
Just yesterday, Norwegian Cruise Line revealed information about its latest sale as it hopes to put the struggles of the past two years behind it and start off 2022 off with a bang. Called “The Greatest Deal”, the newly launched sale offers a range of discounts and promotions that are bound to entice travelers away from the airlines and back onto the waves.
One such promotion that is sure to appeal to travelers is their second guest promotion, which gives those who purchase a ticket on one of Norwegian's cruises the opportunity to buy a second guest fare with up to 70% off the normal retail price. On top of this, travelers can receive seven free offers, such as a free open bar, free WiFi, discounts for friends and family, free roundtrip airfare for the second guest, and $250 credit to use towards a future cruise.
The cruise line also revealed more information about its travel itineraries, with details about trips up until 2024 published including sailings all over Europe, the US and the Caribbean are all published online as part of the cruise line's largest ever itinerary. Such highlights include the “Fire and Ice” voyages on board Norwegian Spirit from April 22nd, 2024 and September 25th, 2024 – a cruise that goes to and from Honolulu and Vancouver, visiting the islands of Hawaii and taking in the beauty of Alaska along the way. The itinerary also revealed details about exciting new ports for the cruise line, including ports in the Dominican Republic and Japan.
Speaking about the announcement, Harry Sommer, Norwegian's president and CEO, said:
“We are proud to be able to provide our guests with an even greater selection of sailings and the best value at sea to help them plan an unforgettable cruise vacation.”
Referencing the demand for cruises, he added:
“So many travelers have been looking to make up for lost time and now we're providing them with unique itineraries to check off those bucket-list destinations they may have longed for over the last year and a half. These port-rich itineraries allow our guests more time to explore unique destinations like a local and indulge in the cultural experiences around them.”
