Travelers with plans of visiting an exotic beach this year have been dealt more positive news, after three top beach destinations just made it easier to visit them this week. The Caribbean destinations of the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago have each simplified their Covid-19 related entry over the past few days, whilst the paradisal East African island of Mauritius also made it easier to enter – giving travelers even more options for their travels this summer.
Whilst Covid-19 hasn’t fully gone away just yet, most of the world’s travel destinations have taken to steps to make it easier to enter this summer, whether it is completely removing their testing requirements or dropping all of their entry restrictions altogether. Here’s a look at the changes to entry requirements that have gone live in Mauritius, the Cayman Islands and Trinidad and Tobago this week, and which restrictions – if any – still remain in these countries.
Mauritius Drops All Requirements – Information For Travelers
Located in East Africa in the Indian Ocean, Mauritius is an island nation that has filled countless travel bucket lists for some time now, thanks to its dazzling reefs, outstanding natural beauty and tropical climate. Whilst it may not be the easiest island to get to, those who make the effort rarely regret it – and visiting the country just became much simpler after all of its Covid-19 related travel restrictions were removed.
As of today, regardless of a travelers country of origin or vaccination status, Mauritius is welcoming travelers to its shores without any need to take a pre-flight test, test upon arrival or undergo any periods of isolation or quarantine. All travelers need to visit this paradise is a passport (and a visa where applicable), making entry to the country just as simple as it was before the pandemic.
Cayman Islands Eases Entry – Information For Travelers
A popular destination in the Caribbean for cruise guests and regular travelers alike, the Cayman Islands have some of the strictest entry requirements around at present, standing out from the crowd as countries clamor to drop their requirements – but the situation is improving. Effective as of yesterday, the Cayman Islands no longer requires its visitors to take a Covid-19 test prior to arrival – saving time, money and worry for travelers. The country also removed its mask mandate yesterday, making the visit much more comfortable.
The country only allows fully vaccinated adults to be able to enter (along with unvaccinated children under the age of 12), with unvaccinated travelers unable to visit the islands at present unless they are a resident or have close ties to the country. Along with proof of vaccination, the country currently requires arrival to have medical insurance and a Certificate to Travel, which can be obtained by applying through the Travel Cayman portal.
Trinidad and Tobago Drops Testing Requirements – What Travelers Should Know
Another Caribbean country that has made encouraging changes to its entry requirements this week is Trinidad and Tobago. Famed for its laid-back way of life, beautiful nature and exciting carnivals, Trinidad and Tobago has long since established itself as a top destination in the region, yet has struggled to entice travelers to visit its shores due to its strict entry requirements over the past few years. However, as of today, visiting the country has become much easier due to changes to their entry restrictions.
The country’s Health Minister, Terrence Deyalsingh, revealed in a press conference on Wednesday that as of July 1st, travelers would no longer be required to show a negative PCR test result or antigen test result in order to be able to enter the country. The news follows Trinidad and Tobago’s decision to drop its TT Pass requirement last month, making entry much simpler and more appealing – though travelers should keep in mind that the wearing of face masks is still a requirement on the islands.
