With it already possible to search through more than fifty different categories when choosing a place to stay on AirBnB – the popular online marketplace for lodging has just added another.
It has been titled the ‘OMG!’ category – and already has more than 500 different homes and rooms listed within it.
But, before we take a look at what the latest addition to AirBnB’s ‘category’ list is all about – here is some information on how AirBnB works, including what search options and filters users can currently use to find the perfect accommodation.
AirBnB Offers Many Different Search Options And Filters To Help You Find The Perfect Place
With AirBnB it is possible to refine your search in a number of ways when looking for the right accommodation for your trip or vacation.
In fact, it possible to narrow down your search using multiple filters on AirBnB’s platform – which includes:
- entering a price range for your trip – so that you can stick your budget
- selecting the ‘type of place’ that suits your accommodation needs – with it possible to choose from an ‘entire place’, ‘private room’ or ‘shared room’
- selecting the number of bedrooms, beds and bathrooms that you require – with it even possible to search for a place that has in excess of 8 beds, bathrooms or separate bedrooms.
Actually, these are just a few of the filters that you can take advantage of when looking for the perfect AirBnB that ‘ticks the boxes’ for what you are looking for – with it also possible to find a place based on its amenities and features.
For instance, you can tick a few boxes that will ensure only places that include things such as a swimming pool, gym, and jacuzzi – or simply an essential household item, such as a washing machine or dryer – will appear in the listings.
And, even before you begin refining your search – using the above mentioned filters – you can narrow down the places that will appear in the list displayed on your computer screen or mobile device by selecting one of the ‘categories’ listed at the very top of the AirBnB website or mobile application.
Here are a few examples of what these categories are:
So, what happens when you click on a category?
When you click on one of the categories – such as those listed above – you will find that the properties now appearing on your screen are relevant to what you just clicked on.
For example, if you select the category type ‘beach’ you will be able to view all rooms and properties that are either located on a beach – or at least within close proximity to one.
By clicking on ‘amazing views’ you will be presented with accommodation options that offer views that are ‘amazing’.
You get the picture – ‘literally’ – it really is as simple and straightforward as that.
These are, however, just some of the categories that AirBnB currently offer, with it having already been mentioned that the company does in fact allow users to search through more than fifty across its platform.
And, if that wasn’t enough already, another category has been added to this list – with the company’s latest ‘OMG!’ category already live and active.
So, What Is The New ‘OMG!’ Category All About?
We are all probably aware of what the term ‘OMG’ means – with it commonly used to emphasise a sense of ‘wow’ and ‘shock’ at either hearing or seeing something.
And, that is exactly why the abbreviation has been used by AirBnB to identify a new type of category – as by selecting this category option you will be presented with rooms and properties that really do leave you with a sense of ‘shock’ due to their ‘wow’ factor.
So, with all that being said – let’s now take a look at some of the most unbelievable AirBnBs that feature in AirBnB’s new ‘OMG!’ category.
Apple Ridge Farm Caboose Bed & Breakfast #2 – Copper Hill, Virginia, United States
This AirBnB listing offers you the opportunity to spend a night in your very-own caboose car – which you would usually find coupled at the rear of a North American freight train.

But do not worry, unlike some jails you will not be confined to your ‘cell’ at all times – with it possible to use the property’s guest facilities – which includes an outdoor cabana bar, a swimming pool and an Egyptian game’s room.
